The problem with beer is that it is very rich in purine which causes the body to produce uric acid which crystalizes in the joints and causes gout.

I've had gout for years, and my doctor told me to avoid alcohol altogether. One flare-up lasted over 3 months and I was walking with a cane. The meds the doc gave me did nothing to get rid of the flare-up or ease the pain, so one day I decided that I had nothing to lose. Since the meds didn't help, I fugured at least some beer would ease the pain. I stopped at a local bar and had 4 pints of Smithwicks. It not only eased the pain, but the flare-up was gone the next day.

Beer goes with everything.
