I have always just settled for the pretty fan tail gold fish.. they are typically good natured.
I did have a problem with a bottom feeder once. It was a difference kind that I had ever had before and something the pet store had recommended.........it was eating on my tails of my fish! I was so mad.. I flushed that puppy.. I mean fish down the toilet!!

My boyfriend used to own an Oscar, which are similar to JD's.........he called her "The Bitch", cuz she was soooo aggressive and unafraid! She was HUGE, but, she liked him, she'd even let him pet her!

I kept my Oscars for a year, they got to be 6 inches each! And they would eat alot of goldfish each day. I just got tired of them.
I dont mind then eating feeder fish, but when they turn on each other . That makes me ill. I think I learned my lesson this time.
We are going to get Mollys. They are soo adorable.....
there are only two things that smell like fish and one of them is fish -- but I love eating both
