I just finished watching "Splendor In The Grass". For some reason I love to torture myself with sad movies and sad songs.

The end of that movie is so heart breaking. Actually its bitter-sweet but when you are still stuck on someone who you cannot have it is heart-breaking.

I had to restrain myself from calling my Ex. It wasn't easy either.

Anyways, What are some of you favorite classic movies?

I also watched "Harvey" w/ Jimmy Stewart and "His Girl Friday" w/ Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell.

Anything with Rosalind Russell is good; The Women, Craig's Wife, His girl Friday, The trouble with Angels, But above all, the most funniest is Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell. She was a great actress.

    Sandy,

    I LOVE CLASSICS!!!

A Streetcar Named Desire (although the movie left out much)

This Property Is Condemned (the original coming of age film)

Nosferatu (so scary are those creepy casket scenes)!

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof (for some classic family dysfunction)

    Just to name a few....lol

Toast of New Orleans (1950) with Mario Lanza and Kathryn Grayson

San Francisco (1936) with Clark Gable and Jeanette MacDonald

    I love the singing.

I LOVE old classic movies so I can't have a favorite - but "Arsenic and Old Lace" is hilarious and Cary Grant is wonderful in it. And "High Society" is an awfully good Frank Sinatra movie.

And since I'm a HUGE fan of Margaret Rutherford, just about anything she's in. One of my favorites of hers is not so very old, "Murder Ahoy" - in this fantastic comedy you get not only the inimitable Margaret but also my favorite all time English comedic actor, Lionel Jeffries!! He has never been funnier.

Now musicals, that's gotta be "Guys and Dolls." They don't get better than this one. I don't know if the dialogue or Marlon Brando is more awesome.

I left out TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD!!!

I should be beaten with a wet noodle. LOL.

One of the only movies in history that stuck so closely by the book it was adapted to.

Oh! And Gone With The Wind....

(well see, I am just a fool for the classics)

    I will stop now.....I think....

Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in The Prisoner of Zenda.

Alas, avi, I don't wanna destroy Flynn for you, but ...

Oh man, I used to love Errol Flynn. Then, when I found out about his penchant for little girls, I just couldn't watch his films anymore without feeling repulsed. That's what ruined Woody Allen for me, too. I know, I know, it shouldn't make a difference. I just can't help it .... *sigh*
