I would say #5 fits me best, although lately I've only been reading fluffy magazines like "Bicycling". As a dubbie, if you keep up with all the JW pubs, there isn't much time to read anything else, and even if you find the time your perception is so distorted and closed that you can't get the full sense of anything "worldly".

Giving up WT lit and reading real writing increases brain power.

No it hasn't changed much...now I just don't have to hide my books

LOL Xena. Hey.....I was wondering though. If your two witness sisters came by for a visit, would you put you 'books" away, or leave them out for them to see? Gumwonder

1 0 I love to read and really enjoy reading all types of books. The best thing about leaving the borg is having the time to read, and not feel that you have to hide the fact.

    15. Other (please detail)

I like reading online material, and occasionally the news paper on sundays.

Whenever I had dub books in the house, I always turned them so the pages would show insted of the title. Since my books were stricktly ex-dub books, I knew it would offend her. I wouldn't probably do the same for a sibling....as you say, there is nothing to hide.....but sometimes you have to keep the peace or live with more turmoil. I don't need turmoil.

    4. Don't read the Watchtower and Awake! anymore.

    10. Have more time to read a broad range of interests: nibbling at Aztec culture and history now; recently turned on to it by my Nahuatl/Apache skinpal.

    11. Don't read the WTS publications but stick to religious books - if you define this category very widely. BTW, props to El Blanko for turning me on to Colin Wilson! His book Beyond the Occult has taught me a couple of valuable lessons.

I never used to read much of the societies publications anyway, and didn't have much time to read anything else either. I'm reading a lot of sci-fi again, I'm reading 1984 at the minute. I'm also reading a lot more newspapers now, and instead of just skimming through a tabloid, I prefer the broadsheets now, the editorials in particular. My collection of spiritualitu/new age books is growing pretty fast too, and I'm starting to read tarot.
