I was in Denver one year when the tornados changed their normal pattern and swept through town and it was THE SCARIEST THING EVER! I was staying in a mobile home and there were about 5 kids there and I don't think I have ever panicked so much in my life as then. There were little tornadoes and big ones, and I saw in the distance an enormous column of what I thought was birds, then it got closer and I realised it was large debris. The next day the newspaper was full of pictures of 300 year old trees pulled up by the roots, and a full size truck, one of the BIG ones, on top of a roof. I never want to see a tornado again, except on tv.

when I was a young girl (about 12) I was in a tornado.. we tried to get out of our mobile home that we lived in at the time and there was so much pressure from the tornado that we couldn't open the door. Outside we watched huge pines fall down like toothpics...

It was scary.. and an experience I never forgot..

I can't imagine ever wanting to be near one.. that was enough for me

Blondie, the storms we had were pretty wicked looking. My house is 1400 ft up on a hill and i was sitting outside watching the clouds form , i did not see a funnel form but it was really creepy watching the black sky and lightning all around. And what a lovely day today is, ENOUGH RAIN!!!!!

Blonidiee if you are truly in the UK Cornwall as your avatar says - I would say for the first time in my life I have heardy ou talk bullshit -- if you are covering your identity then you are in the Midwest in Tornado alley as I am and I know what you are talking about

We have had several here in Washington State this year. One was about an hour or two North of us. There were 3 last week in Spokane in Eastern WA. I don't like tornadoes and don't want them here. Somebody make them go away.

I've been through two of them, one in Wisconsin back in 1977 and the other last month in Niagara Falls. Not fun.

Is it just me or do others get hyperactively excited just before impending thunderstorm, like you can feel the electrified particles being charged up?

Celtie, I get that way too...........it's like a huge adrenalin rush!
