American Idol final: Diana or Fantasia

  I thought both girls sang amazingly last night. Both had one song that wasn't so great, so the contest was a draw for me.

  Since Simon so obviously favors Fantasia I voted 3 times for Diana. Hahahhaha.

  Having said that I do believe Fantasia should win it. She does have an amazing talent. For someone without formal training, she interprets a song so well, that it does stir your emotions. Both girls will get contracts for sure, but I think Fantasia is the best, most consistent performer, even though I am not terribly excited by her style.

  I saw Diana interviewed about her final song, where she hit so many bad notes. She said the stage had "dead zones' where you can't hear your own voice, and she tried to move around so she could get a grip on the tones, but had a rough time. I know that is true from being on large assembly parts. You simply cannot hear yourself. You can hear everyone else's remarks, but not your own. Weird.

  I agree with you completely Mulan. I love Diana, but Fantasia should win it. Besides, Diana is 16. She has a number of years to hone her talent and will probably have a long career. Fantasia's rendition of "Summertime" killed both times she performed it. Unsurpassed.

  I did watch it, as I have been the whole season. I agree with you that both girls have talent and both will get contracts. I also agree that Fantasia should win the competition though. I've been saying that since it was down to about 8 left. (Although zev didn't want to hear that. ) I think her voice is kind of annoying listening to her talk, but she defintely has the perfect voice for singing.

  Both of them have given me the goosebumps just listening to them sing. Both are wonderful singers with great vocal talent. I'll be happy for either one who wins.

  I'm sorry to even have an opinion in American Idol but.....

  I cant stand Fantasia. Her voice is whiney, and she has an unmistakable lithp that makes me crack up when I hear her sing. I have no Idea why she is even in it still....Oh yeah, everyone else in the competition isnt all that great.

  They are all a lot better than me, of course. But Idols, I think not.

  That girl who got booted before George should have won it, but oh well...Its probably all fixed anyway.

  Fantasia hands down. Diana has a beautiful voice, also, but I think in overall consistency and style, Fantasia has one up on Diana. She has a very broad spectrum of pitches, and carries the song through smoothly in uneven tempoes. You're right, her speaking voice is very annoying, so I just "muted" her when she wasn't singing.. heheheh.

  Simon's just a nasty little man, isn't he? hehehe.

  I voted for Diana too. Had La Toya still been there she would have got my vote because she was the best IMO. I can't stand Fanty's voice, it grates my nerves, but she is consistant.

  I like Diana's style of music best and I love how she hits those high notes.(Believe it or not, I used to be able to hit those high notes too before I started smoking)

  I just hope that if Diana does by chance win it that we don't hear this crap about being Racist. People have different taste in music is all.

  I voted for Fantasia.... I was a big LaToya fan ... it is criminal that she was not in the finale! But I also fell in "love" with Fantasia the first time she sang "Summertime" ... I honestly did have goosebumps.

  I like Diana, too. It is all a matter of preference, as they are both talented and classy young ladies. I like Fantasia's uniqueness - I like that she doesn't sound like everyone on the radio. Her last performance last night ("I Believe") was awesome!

  It is too bad that Diana had problems with her last song... I heard that her earpiece malfunctioned and she couldn't hear her own voice. If she wins, she will have earned it! She is amazing for her age!

  At this point, they both will have CDs - and I will probably buy both. I do prefer Fantasia, though.
