In my experience, this is the one -- and maybe the only -- area in which the elders are only to happy to accord the dubbies the benefit of the doubt. With the circuit overseer drubbing them mercilessly about the congregation's hours twice a year, they're usually glad for every countable hour they can wring from their flock! Clearly, they've got no incentive to call any reports into question, except in the most outrageous and egregious cases, (which are rare) and then only reluctantly, I'm sure.
Ex-elders: did you ever confront anyone on FAKE HOURS

Nope. When it comes to golf tournaments, you better be on your toes. Competitive golfers who cheat, cheat themselves, the field, and me. With field service hours, who did you cheat?

I remember when we were considering an individual as an elder candidate someone brought up his time in a positive light. The PO replied "well, you know he doesn't really get that much time." With that comment we decided not to appoint him. However, there was no mention about talking to him and adjusting the time.

While I was still honest about the amount of time I spent in service I applied to regular pioneer, but my application was turned down. So I put in 60 hours a month for several months anyway, but did not fill out an auxiliary pioneer application. A couple of elders decided to ask me about this, suggesting I fill out an application since I was putting in the time anyway. Perhaps they thought I was lying about my time, but I wasn't. I told them I wouldn't fill out any more such applications since the position of pioneer had no scriptural precedent. I said I could put in the time just as easily without their permission and announcement from the platform, and that way no one could get on my back if I was ever short a few hours.
Soon after that I became less regular in service as I started to get a life, and that's when the lying started. I was never questioned about that though.

Thanks for your insight, everone! (Please fogive me if I don't thank you all by name).
What we have learned is that in addition to the hours being "inflated" or "stretched" or "rounded off", in cases of obvious or likely FRAUD the gutless elders (no offence to the ex-elders posting here!!!) do nothing to attempt to clean it up and make the reports honest.
So much for the "honesty" and "integrity" which are supposed to mark this bOrganization as "specially chosen by God".
Of course, I'm sure active elders will have a loophold/excuse: "Well, I have to accept the Bro/Sis's report, I don't know if they may have witnessed to frineds/colleagues/relatives perhaps informally/over the phone." But as we've seen, the real reason is not wanting to make any waves that might bring down the congregation hours: no one wants to be berated by the CO!!!!
But where is this Laissez-faire attitude when it comes to the "DF infractions: smoking, holidays, blood"???? In those situations they are all too eager to form an "investigative committee".
As comedian George Carlin would say, "we don't need two standards here; one stardard is enough". -

For the past year I've phoned in my mother's service report to the book study conductor. As some may know from my previous posts, mum had two strokes and a heart attack last year. Needless to say, she doesn't go out in service, and listens to the meetings by phone (unless I have something better planned, for which she is only too happy to be tag along ). Her service report has never been questioned. I even tried to get a reaction by saying to the brother "isn't it good how she's able to witness considering her circumstances?" He didn't bite, didn't want to know how or even if it was true.
As long as a number gets down on that piece of paper ....

Yes. An "ms" was reporting 20 hours per month consistently, He was known for extreme exaggerations on many topics and was "not visible to the friends" according to the dumb ass "po". I was assigned to speak with him with another dupe elder. We threatened him with deletion if he did not become more visible. I hated bothering people like that; I think the "ms" hated it also because he moved shortly after that. The JW religion sucks.

Willowman made a good point:
Once you fill out the application for aux-pio, the hours you put in, don't count toward the overall average of your hours you spend in the field. If you put in one hour per month and then aux-pio twice a year, you are still a low hour publisher.
The trick in 'breezing' through your average, is don't fill out an application at all ! Go out once a month, for a long time, put in 60 hours once in a while, and your average looks great for the entire year. So perhaps the 'wacky' sister Willowman was talking about, knew the 'tricks to the trade'.
Makes absolutley no sense. Another loophole most publishers don't know about..........

Are you still in Room 215? When are you going to move up to the 10th floor?
Seriously, I would be quite surprised if the elders didn't fake their hours, too.

We confronted a few pioneers over the years that were termed "invisible" by all in the Hall. No one got removed though. They would be "more visible" for a while and become submarines again.
