Hello North Girl and welcome to this board.
I just want to add that the JWs have a lot of rules, both written and unwritten. Many of the things you are asking about will not cause your step sons to be punished by the congregation, at least not in a direct way. But they will be judged harshly by the congregation members if they step out of line and break these rules, even the unwritten ones.
Lets just say the Jehovah's Witness religion is not the ideal religion to raise kids in: they are taught to judge others by external appearance rather than who or what they are inside.
