    I'm so ashamed.

Here I am 26 years old and I have to go through my house and make sure there isn't anything that might possibly offend my mother. I plan to do this before her visit next weekend. (Keep in mind she doesn't visit frequently.)

Has anyone ever done anything similar to this to avoid losing a family member?

I do the same. It sucks big time. It´s actually hard to see (remember) all objects lying around that has to be moved away. And the longer since being active it´s actually sometimes hard to know that somethings are "evil". I mean books by Raymond Franz are easy to remember but dvd´s is this movie ok or not aso. My father is a nosy one so it´s not tht easy everytime.

I used to do it alllll the time. But not only things that would indicated my leaving the troof.... but also had to "de-gay" the house. You know... hide the Judy Garland CDs, put away a lot of the candles, no fresh flower arrangements.... Just kidding, to a point. I did have an agreement with a friend that if something were to happen to me, he'd come over and remove all my porn before my mom could see it. I was to do the same for him.

So much mental and physical energy spent because of the WT. Imagine what good I could have done with that energy instead.

That?s funny... I bet that all of our parents would not go through their houses removing all WT literature before we visited. It is their ?right? to have such things isn?t it? ? but we don?t? have to ?right? to keep what we want?

Remember that some of us aren´t officially out just "weak". Still wanting to have talking terms with our parents aso. I don´t do the effort for anyone else. Others are just not welcome to my house.

True... but I always hated the way my parents felt like they had the right to do whatever they wanted, but I was forbidden.

I understand. I just don´t care anymore. They´re old and if they visit me once a year it ain´t gonna be more than ten times. Guess I´m just not so sensible about it.

You know LS, if doing that makes your parents happy and lets you keep contact with them. By all means do it.

I no longer do this because I no longer have to. I just hate that the policies of a group of old men in Brooklyn have the power to do this to us.

Well, I feel a little better now, knowing that I'm not the only person who has done or does this....

Doing that makes my parents happy and lets me keep contact with them. I wouldn´t do that for anyone but them. When they´re gone I kick a**. I try not hate ´cause it makes MY life harder. Just think it the same way as paying tax. A man gotta do what a man gotta do. I´m kind of jealouse for everybody that can ignore that part of their life. (it actually take me 2 days to "motherproof" my house(and about 2 minutes to un"motherproof" it) :)
