I'm amazed that she admitted that the WTS was wrong about 1975. The standard alibi around here is that "some of the brothers were too far ahead in their desire for this system to end". They ignore the financial devastation that so many families experienced that will last for many more years.

That JW support system is pretty thin really. When my kids started bailing out of the "truth", my wife felt that I was responsible (and I was). She decided to leave me. Turned out that all that "support" was short term and evaporated rather quickly. She came back rather quickly and has no more illusions about the support system.

I was told that many people thought Armageddon was coming in 1975, so got big mortgages, loans etc. with the intention of never being able to pay it back. They didn't have the right heart condition, so Jehovah USED 1975 to weed out those that weren't worthy of being in the new system. I

Watchower, July 15, 1967, talking about the recent assemblies:

!>>>>> To give aid today in this critical time to prospective sons of God," announced President Knorr, "a new book in English, entitled ?Life Everlasting?in Freedom of the Sons of God,? has been published." At all assembly points where it was released, the book was received enthusiastically. Crowds gathered around stands and soon supplies of the book were depleted. Immediately its contents were examined. It did not take the brothers very long to find the chart beginning on page 31, showing that 6,000 years of man?s existence end in 1975. Discussion of 1975 overshadowed about everything else. "The new book compels us to realize that Armageddon is, in fact, very close indeed," said a conventioner. Surely it was one of the outstanding blessings to be carried home!<<<<<

Yes, Englishman, how embarrassing for them that they are such false prophets, such duped people, and very devious in their prophesying, too.

    Triple slam.

They are her support as long as she doesn't end up in a rest home or house bound, then they will remind the worldly family that she is their responsibility and not the responsibility of the congregation.

what you would have to offer her as a replacement if you did succeed in taking her away from her brothers and sisters".

Wow, you must be a very patient person.

What an insult to you, when she doesnt even know you. I hated working with the CO Wives. I remember one instance where she got out of an argument by telling the man

"have you had this conversation with a witness before"

    He said yes but.....

    "have a good day sir"

What? She didnt even answer his Rutherford questions. But the good little brainwashed dubby in me didnt question, I just picked up that line and used again and again.

Your mistake was revealing that they were your parents. She'll have assumed you were raised a dub and subsequently rejected it making you either an apostate or close to it and this legitimises her snappy and unpleasant response. If you'd pretended to never had much contact with dubs, she'd have been drawn in to conversation a little further before pivoting on her well heeled shoe. Be the Trojan Horse next time.

All of this reasoning as to why she did what she did. She is a Wench- Thats why. She never has to feel like your mom does. If she is a Cos wife she is well taken care of. Hell, she gets free meals and everything. They just keep spittin' it out don't they!

E-Man. She was prepared and you were not.

Obviously she runs into this type of situation on a regular, if not daily basis. There is something to be said about preparation and preparedness. I recall when in Field Service, if I encountered an objection I hadn't ran into before, and I didn't have a good comeback, you can be damn sure I had it for the next time. So take this as a good thing, and have your next encounter rehearsed.

P.S. At the very least you should have wiped your hands off on her blouse!
