... with "zest for education" (What did you think it was ?!)

Yes, I've been bitten by the bug and have decided to follow her example and enrol for University.

Unfortunately, I don't get a student grant so I don't get to blow it all on beer and partying

But I will get a degree at the end of it ... after many years

That's quite an infection to get, simon

    "Universitis"...

What are you thinking of taking there?.. and will it be regular type of university year..

Here in Canada, university runs from typically sept through too about May or so.

    sincerely

GO, SIMON GO! ( chant! chant! chant!)

I cannot think of anything better for a wife to convince her husband to do ( well, maybe "one" other thing)

It is never too late to pursue that education. And get the kids to understand and appreciate just how important it is; they will see you set the example!

    GO FOR IT!!!!

    good show, Simon

    regards, Frank

Yeah I know you college kids want to have wild frat parties and listen to that evil rock n roll music. It's this Younger Generation, no respect! >shakes his cane<

Congrats Simon! Do you have a major or course outline?

Y'know ... I haven't had any spam offering me a free university degree all week - typical !!

I've not planned everything yet, just signed up for a small course in July and will start the proper 'year' in erm ... October (?) I think.

My current plan is to go for a BA/BSc in Computing (what else! LOL). I did the usual thing of missing out on this option as a JW as it was frowned upon but it's never too late to get stuck in.

It is good for the kids too - they are becoming quite used to the idea of mum & dad going to 'big school' and doing exams ... I hope it helps make it more normal for them and maybe less stressful.

Good onya Simon! Overcoming the reversable "collegectomy" done by the doctors of dubdumb is one of the best responses to their control I can think of..

Hey, Simon, that's good news. I don't know how it is on your side of the pond, but in the States some universities offer classes via the internet or homestudy and testing via the internet. A lot of the general education classes can be taken that way. Good LUCK!

But I will get a degree at the end of it ... after many years

Well, the time's going to pass anyways, so you might as well get something out of it...

Great idea Simon!!! I'm going through the process of renewing my MCSE and Cisco certs this year, but I've been considering a University degree as well. I'm just uncertain as to whether it's worth my while at my age. I'd have to do it part time, and it could take quite a few years. I could be in my mid fifties by the time I finish.

    Simon,

Well done! It always thrills me to see XJW's making something of their lives, and the University path is always worthwhile. All the Socialists at Manchester University might beat you senseless each day, but it will still be worth the effort. From what I recall Manchester has an excellent History faculty. I roamed around there for a couple of weeks once trying to understand the accents.

How does this impact on you CAD plans?

    Best regards - HS
