All I know that if someone treated my Mom like shit at the door I would be really pissed off. She may be bothering some people but she is a great lady and never deserves to be treated like shit by anyone at anytime.

I promise to be nice to your mom--I don't want to hurt anyone, but I don't want to allow myself or my family to be hurt anymore either. I will just tell people like your mom that I my conscience no longer allows me to be one of JWs and leave it at that (I think) Does your mother wear amy boots?

That is the way it is for a lot of dubs. There is a much higher percentage of 2nd generation dubs these days. Many of us know that it all seems so reasonable when you in the midst of ir. You just wonder why the rest of the world cannot seem to see the "wonderful truth" the way that it is. Sometimes it takes a jolt of unexpected proportions to make one sit up & really ask the questions that expose the org for what it is.
Individually, many of them are lovely people. I am thinking of close family here, but they are caught up as victims. Perhaps they have a "comfort zone" of a ready made way of life and just do not allow themselves to question it. After all, questioning things is viewed as weakness.They are guilty of what they accuse church members of doing.
Are some posters too hard on the individual? Yes , frequently so. .. It is the Hierarchy from the top that should be our target.

some people on this board seem like a spouse who caught their wife in adultry.... the love is gone replaced by deep hatred which seems to be preventing them from seeing the original reasons why they had love in the first place... perhaps its easier to deal with things that way, but it is no less brain dead nor less black and white then what you are accusing the still trapped members of the Borg... you have flipped to a different degree of black and white but not yet escaped it if you can only have love or hate when it comes to fellow humans.
I remember why I became a JW and I would probably still be in if I had not had come to doubt the hypnotists enough to unvolunteer myself from their clutches.... one must remember, everyone who is clucking like a chicken at the hypnotists ringing of a bell, started off completely allowing the hypnotist to take control over their thinking.... but gradually as the spell gets deeper and the critical thinking become less and less and trust of the hypnotist grows deeper, one starts doing things they would never have done voluntarily before, but now feels wrong if they fight it....
the only way to break the spell of a hypnotist is to get victim/subject to stop trusting him, to doubt enough to start thinking contrary to the leadings of the shepherd.... to wake up from the trance.
most JWs, I would imagine are like I was, fully CONviNcED that I had found THE TRUTH in some sense of those words at least relative to all other alternatives
it does no good for you to yell at them as that will only make them see you are the demon inspired worldy enemies they have come to expect from satan's world that hates them without cause... as each individual JW would see hims as not deserving such treatment.

Strange but I I sort of agree with all the posts here to one extent or another. While I do believe in being kind to people and allowing them to live their own lives I can also appreciate what Danny Haz is saying here. The WT is truly insiduous. No, they do not murder people "Charlie Manson style", but they do allow their own children and family members to die for a delusional cause, and while this may not be considered murder by some when your dead your dead no matter what your cult reasoning is on the matter and that is the end of the story.
I have always heard the saying to each his own, "live your life as you may as long as you aren't hurting anyone". The truth is JWs are hurting people and even allowing their own children to members to die and they truly do tear families apart--I have personally had that painful experience. All of JWs who belong to this Organization are promoting and supporting this cause financially and otherwise, thus they too are guilty in their delusion just the same as Charles Manson's followers and the Nazi party. The Org has sugarcoated itself so they don't appear to be villainous--this is what makes them especially dangerous.
While Danny Haz may sound a little radical here, I give him credit for having the courage to blast the WT. Somebody has got to do it.

One must attack their religious masters, or dubs will be forever braindead. Dubs may be partially at fault, but they are not the problem. They are the victims. It is their religious masters who are at fault. THEY are the CAUSE of all dub problems. THEY are the enemy of dubs and humanists.
Possibly one of the most fundamental realities overlooked by XJW's.

Thanks for all the comments so far. I especially like Franklin J and zen nudist's comments.
In general, I think I showed a bit of immaturity by speaking harshly to them, although I wasn't really yelling. Basically, I think I could have accomplished more if I had of said exactly WHAT I said, but just in a less direct way. They would have listened a little longer that way and had more of a chance of POSSIBLY actually letting it sink in.
As far as my ex mother-in-law goes, Franklin, yes, steps are being taken to ensure that my daughter hopefully never again has to endure what she has with her. She is a disgusting human and I blame the org. for allowing psychologically screwed up people like her to feel that she is a "normal" human when she is not.
That is one of the most repugnant things about that org......... As long as you go out in service and give talks they consider you to be a good person, when in fact a lot of them need MAJOR psychological help.
