Does the WTS have any rules...even unsaid implications...on pet ownership. I have been hearing conflicting thing.

They don't actually have any "rules" about pet ownership, but when I got my pet turtles years ago I was told that pets take up time that could be better spent in the ministry?.

There was an Awake issue this year based on pet ownership (my mother gave it to me because of my new puppy) I leafed through it and it said nothing restrictive...just stuff on healthy diets for pets, vet visits, regular exercise, etc. Very blah, blah, blah, but nothing negative....

Everything you do, they have you question yourself if it takes time away from studying, meeting attendance or field service............

Hmmmm.....for all they talk about the "Noah class", you'd think it about be mandatory for "True Christians" to own 1,200,450 pets.

I remember one couple who remained childless so they could be more dedicated to the Org. they had 2 cats though who they absolutely adored and even trained them to use the toilet. They were always talking on about their cats doing this or that and it was all fine with me, as I like cats and their cat stories added a bit of interest to the routine JW life in the congo. One day they were downcast and said they had to take the advice not to be worshipping their cats so much and weren't going to allow them to use the toilet anymore. Guess they were given a talking too by someone. Another truly insane JW story for you...
