A close friend of mine visited Bethel in the early '80s. He met Jack Barr and described him as a friendly and self-effacing person (joking about his name).

Had a private meal with Schroeder and his wife in a French Bethel room... didn't leave me any significant memory though.
Heard many of them in Bethel or assemblies, and only Sydlik impressed me as a skilled speaker (still remember one of his talks with the efficient leitmotiv "but the best is yet to come").
