Did I Do The Right Thing?

    Englishman,

I think you absolutely did the right thing. I have been in similar situations a few times and I always thought about how I would feel if I did nothing and the person continued on down the road, rammed into a family, and killed them. I could never forgive myself if that happened so it made doing the right thing very easy.

Wow, I'm really glad that you were not hurt by this guy! You did the best you could under the circumstance- pushing the cars off the highway was pretty heroic, if you ask me! Years ago, my friend was hit from behind at a stop light by a drunk driver. A month later, she came out of her coma and her husband had to tell her their only child had died in the accident. Everybody in town sympathized with the young man who hit them, because this "one mistake" had ruined his chances to go to college!

I hope they charge this guy that hit you and take away his license so he'll be off the road for a while. And I'm so glad that you are not hurt!

    hey mike,

glad you are ok ( I have more steamship stories to share with you!). I think you did the right think.

Whether "mr. drunk driver" was telling the truth or not is inconsequential, in my opinion; he hit your car either way; and is responsible. He could have just as easily hit a child.

He is guilty for "driving under the influence". It doesn't matter if it were alcohol or the pills, he should not have been driving.

    You did the right thing.

The guy who doesn't know soccer from football said:

So, the 2 police women called the recovery vehicle for him and his car and then informed his relatives, and did everything possible to assist him in any way that they could.

Eman - over here they deal with this stuff a WHOLE different way.

    Hi Mike,

the 2 police women called the recovery vehicle for him and his car and then informed his relatives, and did everything possible to assist him in any way that they could.

Are you sure he wasn't a Masonic policeman? Sounds more than a little strange that he appears to have gotten away with it! Drunk drivers are as bad as a fiend with a loaded gun. And IF he was on such strong medication he still shouldn't have been driving (remember, the driving instructor had already witnessed how erratic his driving was earlier). Whole things sounds very suspicious.
