Partisan bickering

I am so sick of the "team" mentality on both sides. For instance, I am a fiscal conservative, right? But the conservatives in office are spending like drunken sailors. I am for the war in afghanistan, I think most are. I am not so jazzed on the war in Iraq. But John Kerry voted for it.

When are we going to realize that BOTH parties are screwing us instead of towing the party lines just listening to one side and spouting only their propaganda. Jesus.

It's like being a sports fan. I am a huge Sacramento Kings fan, and when I watch their games, I'm always yelling about the other team. I even realize i do this and am biased. Fire the ref's, etc.

But politics is far more serious. The Democrats ARE NOT THE GREAT PEACEFUL SAVIORS!! THE REPUBLICANS ARE NOT ALL EVIL WARMONGERS!!! MICHAEL MOORE IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT!!! NEITHER IS RUSH!!!!!!I

It's election year propaganda. That is all. No one has all the answers, and Dammit, if we all believe one party or the other has all the answers and is all good, we are ALL SCREWED!!!!!!

I think the best you can hope for with politicians is to get the "least worst" one.

At least Bush is an obvious a-hole. Someone who comes on like a beacon of light, etc., etc., scares me more.

Avishi, of course you're right. That's why I'm an independent. That having been said, there's no way in hell I'd vote to keep the current administration in power. I've never felt so strongly about a presidential election.

    I here ya, Avishai,
That's why I'm an Independent;)This year it will be choosing the lesser of two evils, but I'm going to vote because there are certain issues that I DO NOT want being decided for me by a faction that thinks they know what I need better than I do.

When I was JW, I had no say in what went on because I was a woman. My say might not mean much in the political arena, but I can exercise it and I will exercise it. If I'm wrong, I'll just have to learn from the mistake and move on, just as others who have voted for princes who turned out to be frogs have.

I respect those who listen to the issues and make a careful decision not to vote because they really can't support the policies of either party. What bothers me is the vast amount of people who never vote because they think their vote doesn't make a difference.Of course, they have the right to hold that view-we live in a relatively free country. I just hope the apathy doesn't come back and bite us in the butt someday, that's all.

The truth is, until someone comes up with a viable solution to the current two-party political system in this country, this is what we are left with. Each side (Republican or Democrat having to hold their noses and vote for one or the other).

Personally, I would love to vote Libertarian, if that party's leadership had half a brain.

That is my sentiment exactly Emma.

I agree completely. Both parties are screwing us royally. I will admit I definitely have a bias against Bush, although I have no bias for Kerry whatsoever, other than he is a pawn to get rid of Bush. That gives me the luxury of not defending anyone. The only thing that I will defend, which we all know was on another thread, is an individual's right to ask questions of their government.

MICHAEL MOORE IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT!!!

That I will agree to as well and probably should have made that a little clearer in the other thread. Like you said Avishai, I don't think anyone has all of the answers...in fact, I don't think there is anyone who has most of the answers. I do think there are many different perspectives and I do try to keep an open mind, whatever the party affiliation.

I will always defend the right to free speech and the right to privacy. Big issues for me.

Jeez, you want to see a screwed up political scene, take a look at Illinois, esp. Chicago. Even when the newspapers expose the pay-offs and brides, people still vote for the same officals. It's nuts!
