Greetings all. Me and the CSG took off yesterday and went to Cedar Hill State Park..just for a little camping and food over the fire...no fish caught as I gave my fly rod a try, but I think I needs some different flies and prolly some poppers for lake fishing. CSG was fishing for catfish..alas none to be caught..But we did play horseshoes..one tie and one crushing victory for me...bwahaha....Tried sleeping in the hammock goddamit, but the mosquitos were relentless ..

Oh and since we're talking about camping...I have this big blue bag (The Magic Bag) that I keep most of my camping utensils in...and stuff I find or think I might need someday while out and about in the woods..My favorite thing to find in the Magic Bag is there's still some popcorn to pop leftover from last time!....What's in your Magic Bag?

    Sincerely,

My bag contains jerky, a first aid kit, water and usually fresh fruit.

and almost forgot the cliff bar.

We camp in a 25' trailer, now that we are older. (note: I didn't say OLD)

But I make sure we have sharp knives from the house, and tongs. Never go camping without tongs, dry matches and newspaper for the fire.

Lately I've taken to packing some luxury items that grandma never had when we camped with her and grandpa as kids. Zip lock baggies, bottled water, a butane torch instead of matches, real wine glasses, instead of paper cups, and sheets and a down comforter for the bed. No more sleeping bags.

    Am I spoiled or what??

um...just a couple things....never get tiger balm on your utility knife! *LOL* and a tea candle can help you get a fire started when the wood is a little too moist. I also try to keep at least one thing of Mrs. Dash in there too...in case I forget spices or sumpin...

um Walter... goes in the coolers...food is optional...although last night we had brisket sandwiches, new potatos w/Mrs Dash, and Bush's baked beans..nothing like leftovers from the fridge to go on the cheap! *LOL* Sometimes I have just taken something out of the freezer and couldn't tell what it is...when it thaws days later you might or might not hit the jackpot...the worst was frozen liver and onions (did not eat) and the best was prolly the venison chilli/brisket, tortilla soup..

    Sincerely,
