    I didn't read the "forum owner's" response to Valis' thread. And that's because I didn't read every comment, just the first few. But my view is that we should be able to express our opinions on politics or most anything else, too----as long as we respect each other's views.

    Hey dot boy! That is the long and short of my thread right there. Should I sit back and watch my friends slug it out and then have them want to leave the forum because they have sassed each other to the point they have turned a political discussion into a brawl? Nope, won't do it. AND if you notice I never advocated "no political discussion" even though several users decided to make it seem that way.

    Yep. I think having heathly political debate is a good thing, moreso for us ex-jws. We just need to keep it friendly. Calling bush an a$$hole is fine. Calling kerry an idiot is fine. Calling other members anything similiar is not acceptable.

    I personally like the political debate, I have my beliefs and reading other peoples posts teaches me tolerance. Tolerance is another thing we never learned so well as jw's and I think is important.

    Mini, that is what i mean . It has to stay civil and the debates are just so heated and some get hurt . It is just not worth loosing friends over.
