you don't even have to cook the noodles...just use a little extra sauce

Good point, Valis! You can also take a one pound package of any dry pasta (ziti, mostaccioli, shells, or rigatoni seem to work best) & dump it into a 9 x 13 baking pan. Pour a jar of your favorite pasta sauce over it, and then refill that jar with water & add to water to the pan. Bake at 425 for 30 minutes. Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded mozzerella on top & bake for another 10-15 minutes until the pasta is tender & the cheese is bubbling.

I also like to serve Italian sausage with this. I brown the sausages in olive oil in a heavy skillet, then add bell peppers, chopped onions, muchrooms, broccoli, and minced garlic. I turn the heat down & cook until the sausages are done & the veggies are tender.

Here's something easy for you that you can't mess up.

Buy a London Broil, large can of cream of mushroom soup and lipton onion soup mix. Place the roast in a roasting pan, mix the mushroom soup with two pkg of onion soup mix, add about a can and a half of water to the mixture, stir and pour over the roast. Then cut in half about 5 med potatoes and about 5 or 6 carrots ( cut carrots into pieces about 2 to 3 inches long) and add to the roasting pan with the mixture also. Cover and bake in 350 degree oven for about 2 and a half hours or until roast is tender. You have your meat potatoes and gravy all in one pot. It taste yummy too!

Go on the cheap and have a ceasar salad sprinkled with smoked salmon chunks. Next baked potatoes with poached salmon steaks. Okay, try this simple but tasty delight. Roll breast of chicken in a mixture of half mozzerelli cheese and ritz cracker crumbs. Put in baking pan and slightly pepper and bake for 45 min at 375. How simple is that? I could add a few dozen more but you got the drift. Cookin is really easy, just pick up a BHG magazine or Redbook and pick a receipt and go for it.

I love to cook -- all the guys in our house did growing up. I'll have to put some of my favorites on soon, it's late now, So - o...

Here are some short-cuts you can do on the Microwave...awright, awright this is not being traitorous !

Baked Potatoes - in 7 MINUTES -- NOT AN HOUR ! They really taste the same as the slow-roasted originals, the point is to dry out the skins, right? Do this for White or Sweet Potatoes...scrub them well under running water, then SALT heavy, I like fine Kosher Salt. NUKE them till tender, ususally around 7 - 8 minutes. The salt dries out the skins great!

Try Brown Sugar and Butter on th' Sweet Taters, mmmmm....!

Roasted Corn: Carefully pull back the leaves (Do not shuck it up) pull off all the silk, refold the leaves back up and tie closed with some of the long outer leaves. NUKE for 2 little minutes and Shuck-it, lol. This will be really fresh tasting, because it was steamed in it's own juices, not leached out by boiling. Also, you can sprinkle corn with Lemon Pepper, Lowry's or other season salt or even Comino, whatever spices or herbs you like. 2 Minutes !

Red Cabbage: Slice a whole piece about 3/4" thick, lay this 'steak' on a plate, butter, salt/pepper it, place another plate upside-down covering it. NUKE it 2 - 3 minutes, till tender, Mmmmmmm...

Bacon: Messy, have to turn it, use Bacon Press...? No More ! Get one of those slotted bacon cookers, put your bacon down, cover it with a paper towel. Cook for 1 - 2 minutes, you will quickly learn the cooking times for your preferences. Clean up is simple -- throw away the paper towel, drain the rendered bacon fat into a skillet and cook those eggs, flavor those grits or beans, etc.

    One more (non-NUKE):

Take fresh 2" thick Salmon Steaks, brush with Olive & Garlic oil and place in Hot oven 400 - 425 degrees.

Get some condensed Balsamic Vinegar from a specialty grocer, make sure it is from Modena, Italy, they have very strict standards. This condensed Balsamic V. is thick, dark and sweet -- like chocolate syrup. *It is NOT the normal watery type.* A little goes a long way.

Sprinkle both sides of the steaks, it will make a beautiful sweet glaze over it...that has a out-of-this-world taste.

It should be cooked with 6 - 7 minutes per side or less.

    Hey Dan-O

    INGREDIENTS:4 boneless chicken breast halves
    1 1/2 cups picante sauce
3 tbsp. packed light brown sugar
    1 tbsp. prepared mustard

    DIRECTIONS:

PLACE chicken in 2-qt. shallow baking dish. Mix picante sauce, sugar and mustard. Pour over chicken.

BAKE at 400°F. for 20 min. or until done. Serve with rice.

Yep, I've made that dozens of times....always popular and I passed it on to Mulan years ago.

Yesterday I took a pork tenderloin, browned it on all sides then put it in a crockpot with barbecue sauce on LOW for the day. I took two forks, shredded the meat, stirred it in the bbq sauce and put it on hamburger buns. Served with ranch style beans from a can and a salad. It was gone in minutes and the only complaint was I hadn't cooked two tenderloins (I will next time). Could not be easier.

Variations on this have been mentioned:

Take a cheap chuck roast...pot roast...whatever beef roast you like and put it in a crock pot. Add a can of cream of mushroom soup, sprinkle with a packet of onion soup mix. Throw in some cut up potatoes and if you like some sliced onions and chopped carrots. Cook on HIGH for one hour then turn to LOW for the rest of the day. Open up a bag o'salad and you have a meal.

Okay, another stupid question. You browned it on all sides? In a skillet? and then put it in the crock pot?
