How would this coincide with bible prophecy.......hmmm. " I don't think so"
I am so anxious for the election to take place. Would it make sense that Bush regains the Presidency? I think perhaps Kerry needs to come into power in order for the United States to bring the world back into harmony and establish "World Peace". Everyone hates the current President too much, so I do not think it would be likely for Bush to regain the top spot...........in a world of true justice, Bush would be guilty of war crimes as Saddam is. He deliberately attacked a non-threatening country (not saying that Saddam was nice), and he is responsible for the killing of innocent people. (Impeachment perhaps?) I guess we all have to wait and see.

Well, sovereignty may have been handed back on paper but America has made sure that they or their appointees (ie they) can declare any government who is elected as bogus and remove them.
So, I don't believe that there has yet been a handover of power and responsibility, just accountability.
True freedom would mean they were free to tell America to leave and to vote in an non-US-friendly government if they wanted.

Hi Irongland,
Good thoughtful idea. It doesn't seem to me that the American people would stand for another invasion as the polls are indicating a majority of people don't think Iraq was worth it.
But I read somewhere, I could be wrong, that the interim ruler is an arch-enemy of Hussein and actually worked with the CIA to help sabotage him. So it wouldn't seem possible that this guy (Allawi?) would let this happen.
But, you never know.

Simon,

INTERESTING CONCEPT, What's the supporting evidence that the US has the ability to declare an elected Iraqi government "bogus"
So, I don't believe that there has yet been a handover of power and responsibility, just accountability. I guess this explains why the Iraqi Prime Minister is offering amnesty to folks that killed American Soldiers...he's such a puppet with no responsibility or power.

Hi Yeru,
I don't know about US declaring a party bogus, but I did read (sorry don't have it handy and I'm off to work soon) that the US retained the right to declare a party in the elections illegal.

patio,
I'd like the source on that...but even still...that's a LONG way from declaring an election bogus.

Exactly. I was listening to Tony Blair's BS on the subject and it was so obvious what he was saying was nothing more than dumping all the crap wiht the trial and everything on Iraq so when stuff goes wrong, he wont be accountable for it. Letting America take the lead in all of this is him doing the same. He wants to look like he is doing the right thing, but if things go wrong there are people he can shift the blame to.
It all just seems strange... trying him on Iraqi soil, surely it should be done on neutral ground and with neutral, unbiased judges?

Nope, here in the US criminals are tried WHERE THE CRIME OCCURS...the presumption is that the judge is unbiased.

What about the ones in Guantanamo bay? I'm pretty certain they didn't attack cuba
