Regarding whether the US has really "handed over", this news item is now appearing downunder:

US launches air strike on house
    22:20 AEST Tue Jul 6 2004

AP - United States forces dropped two tonnes of bombs on a suspected militant safehouse in the Iraqi city of Fallujah, killing up to 13 people, officials said.

The pounding turned the building into a 9m-deep pit of sand and rubble.

The attack was the fifth airstrike in the past two weeks in the area where the US military says Jordanian militant Abu Musab Zarqawi's network has safehouses.

Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi issued an unprecedented statement saying his government provided intelligence to the US military for the strike.

Just stopped in on lunch hour--really quick: a prisoner of war is to be released and tried in an international court (Geneva Conventions?). I just read that but don't have time to look it up (LA Times?--it was today).

It makes sense, because Husseins political enemies are in charge now. An international court would be more unbiased, it seems to me so the law makes sense.

If that does happen, the Iraqies better as hell not start bitching about human rights violations again.

When he starts killing people again I say we stay out... just like they told us to.
