Unfortunately, for many brothers and sisters asking the elders in the congregation that their possible intended goes to isn't much help either. Elders have hedged and lied about certain people rather than admit some glaring flaws. The sisters/brothers go ahead and marry someone only to find out that they are impotent, spendthrifts, wifebeaters, lazy, etc.
So much for their "spiritual" counsel!

Aren't these two statements contradictory? Isn't this false advertisement?

I was personally counseled about an internet personals when I was a JW.. got the old "you don't know if they are really a witness" talk.. about how 'worldly' men like to seek out JWs because they know they are chaste and less chance of picking up a disease.. etc etc etc..
I am surprised they didn't tell me that an apostate might contact me and take me away from the WTS...
