From the German Infolink-board: at this years DC in Germany the WTS announcend that they are going to publish a new version of "My Book of Bible Stories". One of the reason is the recent change in German orthography that is going to be implemented. But there shall be also some changes in content.
The JW are struggeling to get the status of a public body here in Germany and child rearing is one of the attacks they get. I wonder if this is the reason they want to change the contents.
Is this a German project or has anyone heard of a new edition of MBoBS?

That is such a stupid reason! What about all the other books they published?
What is true is that any new publication must meet this "new" (already some years) orthography. -

I take this as a reason for - sad as it is - many JW use this book to teach their children how to read.

Well, the Society did release last year in English a rewrite of "Listening to the Great Teacher" larger format, more pages, lots of pictures.

RR, this book was also released in German last year.

Can you give an example of a change in "orthography"?

There was a reform on German orthography some years ago. Mostly which words begin with a capital letter and if expressions are written in one word or more. The formerly written "daß" is now "dass".
Since this is the orthography that pupils learn at school nowadays parents are reluctant to use older children's books. -

So are they just going to correct those "errors" or also re-write other areas because of "meaning"?
How is the umlaut handled?
Hmmmm?

They are also rewriting the contents. I have no more information so far.
Can you see the last letter in "daß"? Usually on international boards I would write it "dass" which is now the official orthography.
When the orthography was reformed the WTS did not change for some years it's wording but at last they changed it, too. In Germany there is still one conservative newspaper (http://www.faz.de) that used the old orthography. It is also a political topic. -

Sounds like they are going to edit out all of the pictures of people being killed by Jehover.
