Has anyone here adopted any children?
RR
Just you, RR, son.
Yes. My first wife had severe scoliosis as a child. She spent some of her tween years in a cast and didn't want ot pass it on.
We started the adpotion together. We had to go thru Massachusetts' training program. I took it in Spanish with my Puerto Rican then-wife. We took a four-year-old girl that was in foster care in the projects in Roxbury. So, three months into the adoption the waste of skin I was married to told me that this whole adoption thing was 'not for her.' I remember it like it was told Kennedy had been shot. I helped her pack. It took four years to finalize the adoption. The only one I've ever heard of where a single white male adopted a hispanic girl.
Funny how this kind of relates to this site. She has two older sisters that were adopted by a Mexican family in Mass. That family is Witnesses.
Anyway, I'll bet you had a question or two.

The Adoption process is a nightmare here in California. Some good friends of the family are trying to adopt and it is taking MONTHS. You would think that they would try to speed up the program.......
My 2 oldest sisters are adopted, my friends just adopted a baby from Mexico. I have legal custody of my nephew. I have every intention of legally adopting him should I ever get married and settle down. I think adoption is a wonderful thing.
My wife was born in Germany, raised in Zaire, but she's French. I'm Puertorican, we have two mutts of our own, a 7year old girl and a 8 month old son. We're in the process of adopting a 6 year old girl from Haiti.
My wife was pregnant with twins, a girl and a boy, the girl died 4 months into the pregnancy, my son survived.

Anyway, the moral of the story is that too many idiots are having kids when they cant take care of them, and too many children are being discarded and sent in to the "system". I think adoption is a wonderful gift to bestow on to a child.
I plan on adopting 11 boys when they are young and then training them, and turning them in to a lethal soccer team who will become world famous and make me a very very rich woman I am kidding of course (or am I?)
I'm adopted and curreently searching for my birth mother, and half-brother.

LABD, did you know growing up that you were adopted? Did it effect you at all as an adult?
My friends who just adopted their baby from Mexico have no intentions of ever telling her she's adopted.
I have never adopted but i know i have a half brother some where. My mother had him out of wedlock and he was given up for adoption in 1940's.
