Is the literal application to their physical lives, "living according to the flesh", scriptual ?
Whatever they do doesn't matter.

I am a non-JW, but Christian, whose sister is a JW. I have witnessed--sorry for the pun--two disfellowshipments in my sister's family. One brought the family member back to the fold--I think only because he stood to loose his wife and kids. The other is the youngest daughter who is in her early 20s.
One pastor at my church is also a former JW. He has told me that, among other things, including unnessessary legalisms that Jesus, himself, hated and rebuked the pharisses about, is God's forgiving grace. God forgave by giving us the most wonderful gift of His son. Jesus told us to forgive 77 times 7. Jesus hung out with the sinners--tax collectors, prostitutes, etc., etc. We need to remember what Jesus said and did.
