I like your God, TMS.
XQs: I also use TP every time instead of trying sandpaper or a letter opener. Does this make me ritualistic?
Many speak of the god within ourselves. This is true, but it does not mean there is no external God. I don't know, but maybe there is a God out there that built its personality into all of us, so that we all have deep-seated instincts to be like God. Maybe the goal of our time here is to be as much like God as possible. Just a thought.
TMS, I like your idea of a God. He would also not create mosquitoes, parasites, viruses, earth quakes, volcanoes, tornadoes, devils, demons, floods, and swords.

My original point was that a god does not need a fingered Rosary, lit candles, a field service report, chants or the fat of a lamb. A secondary point is that humans do not NEED to perform those rituals.
You're right, God DOESN'T need these things...God doesn't need our worship or rituals at all...but we need them, we need ritual.
TMS,
I don't find the God of the bible ludicruis, your interpretation of him perhaps, but not God himself.
FUNK,
Suffering is indeed a result of free will...Humans must be able to choose to love...and with that choice comes the ability to hate as well.

So humans are doomed to suffer for as long as they exist without your god ever doing anything about it?
I love your post TMS !!!!
Funk,
No, not really...that's where hell comes in...and our conversion of heart. This whole journey is about conforming our will to the will of God. Those who don't want to will be in a place where they can only affect others like themselves.

What definition of free will are you using? Conform your will to that of your god or experience eternal suffering? That doesn't impinge on free will but your god preventing earthquakes would?
"You'll go straight to hell for that one..."
