Why do Jehovah's Witnesses contemplate suicide?

A problem common among Jehovah's Witnesses is the feeling that they are not going to make it to live past Armageddon. Even though they keep a rigorous schedule of activities designed to earn them a righteous standing with Jehovah, the Witnesses themselves are keenly aware that they fall far short of the perfect standard set by God.
Why do so many Jehovah's Witnesses consider suicide at one time or another? The Watchtower has made surviving Armageddon a major goal for every Jehovah's Witness, but it is not an easy goal. The Society teaches that only faithful Jehovah's Witnesses qualify to survive Armageddon but faithfulness is not good enough unless one finishes completely faithful. Any slacking off before Armageddon may disqualify you. The entire world including disqualified Jehovah's Witnesses will be killed by such things as earthquakes, fire, hailstones, lightning and floods. According to the Watchtower, everyone alive on earth at the time of Armageddon who is not a faithful Jehovah's Witness will be executed by Jehovah God and will never see a resurrection. But what about people who have died before Armageddon? The Watchtower's teaching is that everyone who dies before Armageddon, aside from Jehovah's Witnesses who have been expelled from the Watchtower Society, will go into the common grave of mankind and all will be resurrected onto paradise earth to have a second chance. That means that all Jehovah's Witnesses and non-Jehovah's Witnesses alike get a second chance as long as they die before Armageddon.

Except there is no such thing as a resurrection. Instead God will recreate a replicant of you to live in the "Paradise Earth" (cf. Blade Runner).

Same reason people who arent JW do it. They see no way out, no other alternative. I too thought about it when my family first disowned me and kicked me out of their home. I thought that there was no way I could possible survive without the only life I had ever known, the only friends I had ever known, and the only family I had ever known.

For others the guilt of displeasing Jehovah and not being able to rectify their life enough to survive Armegeddon is too much. The guilt trip that is laid on imperfect people is ridiculous. Call it soul searching, call it divine intervention, call it an emotional breakthrough, call it a coincedence. Whatever you want to call it, one day I just woke up and realized deep in my soul that the JWs werent right and I had nothing to fear. That was the happiest day of my life, and I've never had such a dreadful thought since.

The uncertainty that comes from the WT's interpretation of scripture reguarding their salvation and the need to keep doing more to prove your love for God and nieghbor,, causes many to be tense and in subjection to them,, when things go wrong in their life or they commit certain sins the emotional pain is very great,,this pain I beleive causes many to give thought to ending their life to excape the emotional pain.

The fact that Jehovah is a beast that will kill you for many different infractions doesn't make everlasting life all that attractive. Which may also be a reason many also may think it better to take their life with no hope of a ressurection and be done with worry once and for all.

Even if JWs are right you have nothing to fear. This article brings up the dumbest paradox of the religion. And if you do further research only idiots die in armageddon now. It reminds me of a study I saked "if all people were saved by repenting for their sins who are the fools in hell?"

The problem with jwism is it pumps up a hypothetical end game, then forgets about the present. After over 100 years the watchtower is finally catching on that they may see 100 more. Imagine for once if the WTS taught that many generations would die before armageddon came, and that the signs of the last days was a world wide ice age. JWdom would be perplexed with current doctrine.

Problems in life that seem without solution

Drug and alcohol problems exacerbate it; than add a stupid philosophy that somehow prayer and living a good life will eliminate those depressed feelings.

Mental illness is just as much a physical illness as diabetes yet JWs do not expect prayer to cure it.

My experience as a JW and as person who works closely with the mentally ill, JWs don't have a corner on the market. The problem lies is getting help
