    ElBlanko:

Christians are required to judge. To say otherwise is nonsense IMO.

    I respectfully disagree.
    We judge ourselves, alone...

I'm more than willing to hear your perspective, though.

    What is important to you?

There are lots of important things. I was stating that the physical body isn't the most important thing IMO.

Discernment requires a fine degree of judgement. As a Christian, is it not true that one is meant to discern right from wrong in terms of personal conduct?

Therefore by extention, when viewing others one automatically casts a judgement based around ones own understanding of what is right and wrong.

If one is to move wisely within this life and choose ones companions with care, then judgement is surely necessary?

Judgement obviously needs to be tempered with compassion though, so at times it is necessary to use etiquette and diplomacy with others, so as not to trample upon feelings and individual rights.

Judgement is part of divine nature and therefore if we reflect divine nature, we judge.

Hmm... well, it is easy to get crossed lines and this is an area that requires many hours of conversation. So I'll quit due to lack of energy to type out my thoughts.

What does spirituality mean? Well, what does spirit mean? Some define spirit as a disembodied personage of some sort. "Spirit" in Hebrew is the word ruach which simply means breath or wind. What comes to your mind when you think of wind? Is it something that is tangible like a rock? Can you really put your mind around what wind is?

Spirituality is a very difficult concept to define, as it is intangible and ethereal. Personally, it's kind of like defining pornography. As a famous Supreme Court Justice put it, "I can't really define it, but I know it when I see it."

SPantz....Logansrun (comments posted above) pretty much nailed it, but here's another way to look at it.....have you actually experienced love?....you know....that warm fuzzy feeling when you think of certain people that actually warm your heart? When you experience a big whopping dose of it....like when you "fall in love" with someone, doesn't it fill you with energy? Lots of energy? Love is energizing....love is not tangible....it's a spirit.....in this manner, you are spiritual when you love. Make sense?

    Interesting perspective.

I prefer the route of judging myself as to my personal ethics, but acknowledging that others have theirs and attempting not to judge them on it. One of the few things I bridle at is judgementalism.
Ultimately we are all growing and finding our feet, and probably none more so than those leaving a situation where it was all pre-decided for us.

Judge not, lest you be judged...

I'd rather temper compassion with good judgement

I think what jesus was getting at was that we must not condemn somebody because of ethnicity, appearance or means of life and to treat all people as equals . The jewish religious leaders at the time were playing favorites with the rich and powerful while ignoring the poor and needy . We do have to discern by peoples actions just what their motives are to determine if they are suitable association . The saying one bad apple spoils the whole barrel or that a little leven ferments the whole lump was an important illustration in reguard to humility .

I agree, but there's a difference between discernment and judgement, IMHO.

I believe spirituality is what you want it to be - you can't adequately define a personal experience for others.

However, I read this the other day - a quote from Krishnamurti: "What is Spirituality? - I say it's harmonious living?how can you live harmoniously when you are possessive, when there is that idea of yours and mine? How can you live harmoniously if you are bound to beliefs? After all, belief is merely an escape from the present conflict. And a man who is bound by authority, social or religious, surely he cannot live harmoniously, therefore spiritually, intelligently?A man who is full of thoughts is not free of authority, because authority merely makes him into an imitative machine, into a cog-whether in a social or religious machine?"

    Peace - LL :)

Krishnamurti was the product of a famous theosophist pederast called Charles Leadbeater. Charles had a well documented obsession with young boys. Krishnamurti fell under Charles Leadbeaters spell and some would say was forced into a role that was ill-fitting and certainly went against the will of his family who were aware of Leadbeaters sexual desires.

The air-headed teachings of Leadbeater are echoed through the mind of Krishnamurti. Leadbeater along with other members of the theosophist society were exposed as being tricksters by psychical researchers in their day.

Krishnamurti was also said (by Leadbeater) to hold the spirit of the Lord Maitreya - a kind of "Astral New Age Christ". Do a search over the internet and you will find lord Maitreya still transmitting a hodgepodge of Eastern mystical garbage through mediums.
