That would be good wildhorses, BUT what about the people that don't bother to vote, but then complain? Do we force everyone to vote? And what about the faction that does not agree & doesn't win, then perpetrace force. What do we do with them?

I guess it's a no win situation either way. People don't like that the government sends us to war. (myself included) and they would complain if it were up to the people. It sucks if you ask me.

    Hi WH!

Another interesting question...you've been talking with Gopher, eh?

War can't be "outlawed," any more than dogs can, by nature, not want to kill cats. Sure, they can be conditioned to not kill cats, but, even if so conditioned, if we were able to get into their visceral primate instinct, what would they be itching to do? Kill cats.

Such sayings as "might makes right" applies to humans, and to God. The Biblical and Islamic God says "you must not murder," and turns right around and says "Go kill these Canaanites, these infidel dogs, and it's ok because I say it's ok...and I will be with you in this war against unrighteousness."

If, perchance, there was a world-wide ban on war, would it be a better place? No, because people would just instinctively find another way to exercise our primal need to protect, and expand, self-existence.

Would it be better if the decision wasn't in the hand of the governments, but instead left up to a majority vote?(ie the whole counties population)

China wins with 1/5 of the world population.

    No way

But just : More understanding (less missunformation) = less wars (or reverse)

    Triple A, scarey thought.

Craig, I guess we are all just animals. We protect our young fight over our territory and we run in packs. (ours being countries) I guess I am one of the more timid animals. I hate fighting.

Well, technically wars are outlawed. That is, the only legal reason for going to war is self-defense - either being invaded or being in 'imminent danger'.

That is why Iraq had to be painted as an imminent threat and why, "Saddam isn't nice" is not good enough. There are lots of 'not nice' rulers and regimes, either deal with all of them or none of them IMO, don't use it as a poor excuse when the tried reasons dno't pan out.

Perhaps if those responsible for wars were always brought to justice and made to pay then the world would be a much better place?

I like that idea myself. If they were held accountable, they might not be so quick to the gun.

Or..........let the leaders duke it out and leave the rest of us out of it.

I think the old wars were much better - when the commanders had to lead the men into battle.

I just can't see Tony and George (Zippy & George?) charging with swords drawn ... can you?!
