Hey Dede:
Very good to see you posting again. We mist ya! I had a lot of joint and bone aches, still do occasionally. Also the low energy just after I get up. I'm sure it's a combination of depression, aging, past wear and tear during sports (horse rider, skiier), and hormones. Although I don't take anything specifically for just one malady (except aspirin for the pain), I use something to support each system (to lube the machine, so to speak) so that each system runs smoothly in conjunction with the others.
I take a whole vitamin, of course, with emphasis on B vitamins; a calcium carbonate for the bones; spirulina (green food is always mentioned in a good diet); a liver cleansing herbal solution; and acidophilus for the digestive. I also take estroven to support the hormonal system.
To remember to take these, I have my little jars lined up next to the computer, since it's a sure bet that I'm going to be on the computer once a day. I know, I'm a nerd.
I tried the hydro-condrointin/glucosamine complex, and they seemed to help a lot; but I just go to the chiropractor reguarly and that works better. I am overweight, so am presently trying to lose the 40 lbs. I need to lose by taking a walk every day.
Having a good diet, though, is the most important thing: nuts, fruits, veggies, beans and grains should be the large majority of it, with fish and meats sparingly. Soy has also helped me IMMENSELY.
Good luck, and I hope you feel much better soon. It's sure so true that when a human is sick and in pain, quality of life is so diminished.
Hugs,
Country Girl
Gumby thanks for the info, and I did read it all, very interesting.
You know I know these things will help, I am really a word of mouth kind of person, if a friend says it works, especially if several all have the same benefits I am all for trying it.
You are right Wednesday, I think stress just goes hand in hand with some of these things, but which came first the chicken or the egg kind of thing. LOL, who cares right,,,,,,just how do you function is all I need to worry about now....hehe.
I had all kinds of allergies to pollen, rag weed, dust , hay ( and I loved my horses) , which didnt help with having bronchitis , tonsilites all the time. I had Mononuecleousis for a year when I was 15 and sometimes I can compare the exhaustion I have now to that time. It was so much worse thou, I will never forget, just laying on the bed, breathing, that was all I had the energy to do. I hear that arthritis, lupus, and illnesses such as mono,,,,,are auto immune disorders . I am not sure but CFS, FMS, may be included as auto immune too.
Like I said I have had arthritis since I was 6 at least, I should have had corrective shoes too, but the doctor my mom took me too , said she was being an overprotective parnoid mom..........thanks Doc. I had to have surgery on both of my feet when I was 16 and 17. I have been going to the foot doctor since I was 8 on a regular basis for physical therapy , pain managment because I had to wait for my feet to stop growing to have the surgery.
Now I am two surgeries over due. I am in no hurry to go thru that hell again, so I am holding off.
Country woman,,,,,,, I hear that is good stuff, I tried it , but didnt stick with it long enough to know for sure. I think Mac swears by this as well.
The hard part for me as you can see is sticking to taking it.
Maybe if I put it right by my computer , while I am sitting down, I will take the time to take it the way I am supposed to. If I leave it in the kitchen I am usually running around doing something eles and will not take the time to take it. So, CountryGirl you are not a nerd,,, that is a good idea.
Thanks for the input guys, I needed this boost and great suggestions ya'll gave.
I am trying to watch my diet too CountryGirl, ( thanks for the welcome back btw), as I need to lose 20 lbs, ( ten would help immensly and keep me focused......lol) and I am trying to cut out excess sugar. Gesssh that is hard to do. But little changes here and there are making me feel better about myself and me controlling the food instead of it me, still have a way to go. I use food as a drug, to medicate myself when I am stressed, bored, or in pain. Still working on that too.
Try eliminating grain sugar and dairy. I have read, and for me it proved to be true, grain is the culrit in a lot of illness and it definitley caues me to retain water. Going off it has in some cases inproved depression .sugar is always bad, and dairy is frequently listed as a source of allergies and causing health troubles. U could elimanate these from your diet and then add back and see how u feel. a good book to get from amazon"going against the grain"
Hello Dede and all the rest of our fellow sufferers.
I am like most of you CFS. Fibromyagia, oseoarthritis, and rhematoid as wel as sleep apnea. I am forever fatiqued, morning noon and night and i could sleep my life away. I am on a real down right now as I am finding living in pain some days so unbearable. Sorry you've had arthritis since age 6, that is terrible. I think I have had it all my life but my mother never took me to the doctor unless I was really sick. From my earliest years the pains in my legs were exruciating.
I was born with spina bifida occouta, and I am sure my mom had no idea of it because when the doctors told me I have a hole at the base of my spine and it my spine is deformed she couldn't believe it. But it explains to me why as a child I suffered so badly.
I have tried many vitimans and tonic and nothing works. I am on larger doses of pain medication. I wear a pain patch 100mg of fentynal and tablet morphine and motrin. And still I am not able to function with out terrible pain. My rhemotolgist is thinking about medicanal marajuana.
I also take effexor for depression and trazadone, and monopril for my blood pressure. And Ativan for anxiety and stress. I also take 5HTP
Sleeping with my CPAP machine at night for the apnea and obstructive condition I was certain it would help eleviate some ot the fatique. But nothing thus far.
I am scheduled to see an orthopedic surgeon in Octorber for surgery on my spine and my hip on the left side is deteriating fast.
Live most days are a bummer. I have a fantastic wonderful husband who is so helpful and understanding and I know it takes alot of his energy too. But he so good and God sent for sure.
I hope all of you are getting some sort of help for your pain. Nothing like living in pain every single hour of everyday.
I seen the advertisment for the Altovis and do intend to speak to my doctor about it, but I read this about altovis and this is why I need to speak first to my doctor:
Chronic fatigue can be a sign of something serious, so if you suffer from prolonged, unexplained lethargy or weakness, see your doctor. However, if you have an active life and just need extra energy to keep up, try Altovis.Chronic fatigue can be a sign of something serious, so if you suffer from prolonged, unexplained lethargy or weakness, see your doctor. Wishing all of you the very best each and everyday.
And wow I can't believe the number of newbies we have.
All my love
Orangefatcat.
Lyin: I will scream from the rooftops how great I feel on my SeaSilver and I also take Coral Calcium. For a few days a month I use the hormonal creme from Arbonne (WHICH I AM OUT OF AND NEED RIGGGGGHT NOW) oops I'm better now.....tee hee
yes OFC, u should,if uhave chronic fatigue rule out all u can, but myself, i already have a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia(sp) so i know alreaady that my fatigue, is cuased by somethig that so far they have not found any cure for. It just provides a gentle lift, and helps me get through the day. sometimes, i like u, would be in bed most of the day.
has anyone tried neurontin for your pain?
Sheila can you tell me more about he SeaSilver,? I may have asked you this before, I remember you saying you felt so much better. I have memories lapses alot,,,,no joke, guess from lack of good nutrients , pain, or just plain wore out ya know.
Orangefatcat,,,,,,,( my first secret santa ever !!!!!) honey,,,,,, I feel so bad for you. I always see so many other people that have it worse than I do and I would do anything to make that pain go away for you. I think if you are in pain,,,,,,,,,,and after you have tried everything eles, why not have a good doctor, that can make your life easier with pain management drugs. I know they are addictive , but alot of folks take meds that are addicitive for other reasons than pain......as in seizure disorders, mental illness, anxiety, etc. I know where I am from, doctors here have to see you bleeding to death before they will cut lose of 5 Lortabs. I truly think that a good relationship with a doctor who can keep you in a better state of pain relief is very much lacking for so many. I did appreciate in one of my FMS, book, can't think of the name exactly, written by two women doctors who suffer from FMS, and they spoke alot about finding a doctor to help you with pain meds, to make your life more tolerable.
You are a young woman Orange with many years ahead of you, and you deserve not to hurt like you do. I hope that surgery will help, once you get over the recovery, you may feel better than you have in years.
I have heard alot about medicinal MJ, and I , if it works , more power to those helping it get into the hands of sufferers everywhere.
I have tried Celebrex, it helps some, but right now I am trying to halt any more damage to my joints and trying to go a natural route if I can. I would like to use drugs like this only when necessary. I am pretty sure as I get older , I will have to take the stronger meds, as this only gets worse.
Now when I have a migraine, give me MORPHINE. Literally, I have to have a shot to keep from blowing my head off!!!
I can tell ya'll one thing I know for sure, since I left the borg,,,,,,,, I havent had as many migraines, FMS flares and panic attacks!! hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........talk about stress reduction huh?? lol
I truly believe that in the western world with a balanced diet we do not need suplements - the exception would be pregnant mothers
Maybe for a person in general good health that would be true stilljwelder.
I am generally not in good health. There are too many people who say that supplements make their lives so much better,,,,,,people who suffer from arthritis, depressions, CFS, FMS, things of this nature. I could eat , and have btw,,,,,the best diet possible and still hurt.
I do think that a good balanced diet makes things better for you, provides you with the nutrients our bodies need,,,,,but even then everyone is different. Some need extra iron (women espeically) some need more calcium, some need more of the B vitamins for better brain function.
