I have attended many DCs at the Cow Palace. (More than I care to remember). The place is kinda dumpy, but apparently the dubs get a grrrrrrreat deal on the place. So much so that we are made to show our appreciation (via clapping) for the management during the last talk of the day on Sunday.
And it is like cattle call in the morning when the open the doors -- everyone getting into position for the best seats. . . just like a herd of cows.

Just a couple of points:
1. Yes, the Cow Palace is a disgusting place, very dark and depressing, lots of very bad seats (with concrete pillars blocking the stage), and in a very scary neighborhood. Assigned there some years ago, we left after the first day, attended another one elsewhere later, never regretted it for a second.
2. The line in the newspaper about "politics" is the reporter's "take" on what goes on there. Reporters often report on events and groups they don't understand very well, and they get a lot of stuff wrong. When you're reading a newspaper account, keep that in mind.
last year at the cow palace i spoke with a woman with a sign pacing the entire walk way..no one bothered her other than alot of sneers. her sign read 'my daughter wont let me see my grandchildren"..i got the nerve to ask her why she did what she being that i already had my doubts...she stated that her daughter was baptised just two years before and told since she celebrated christmas it was not permitted for her to influence the children...the old woman cried in front of me and it really disturbed me..she said she was taking care of the kids since birth and the kids 11 and 9 was calling her secretly....the reason i believed her is that i know many who are still associated with org but the kids have to sneak out to see the unbelieving family ...even myself my mom side of the family still invites me to gather with them even though they knew i was attending...i finally set aside the built in prejudices taught to me by the org and now spend all holidays with them..i wasted so much time they are good people...

How fitting the Dubs will be going to the Cow Palace, what with all the Bulls**t that will be preached...
