If I were going my pasttime would be to take a lawn chair by the ladies bathroom and put shame in all the mothers that beat their children for being normal. Then Id take alll those %$#% to the handicapped bathroom and take a wooden spoon to them!
I know of a former presiding overseer that goes only to make his wife happy. He leaves thru most of the sessions and goes to a bar and gets drunk and right before the prayer is over he gets her and they leave....BTW, he was doing this while he was a PO too, for a while!

Anything new? No, absolutely not. No No No No No No No Nadda Zip. Then again, I've never felt that any sort of large group setting featuring extended talks, generalized discussions, artificial experiences, and bad acting proved effective as a teaching tool for anyhting new. More than likely, the people giving the talks most of the time are just as unexcited about being there as you are. For the majority, its a real pain in the ass because its just like a business trip without the business, or without the anything for that matter. If I were you I'd probably get some sight-seeing in to make the trip somewhat bear-able.
I went to my DC last month. If you actually pay attention, you'll see some amazing stuff! For example, during the DC, I witnessed a bible study conducted in English and German at the same time! The teacher spoke English, and the student spoke German, but they understood each other perfectly! It was amazing! This was when they unveiled that new book with all the languages in it. They actually encouraged people to start studies with people who spoke a foreign language. Not find someone who speaks the language and get them to do it. No, they want YOU to do it. Also, did you know that people in ancient times flailed their arms wildly when they talked?! I didn't! District Conventions are amazing things!
