Are you happy about who you are?

Yes, I am very happy about who I am, although, next week I have to stop being me and become Elvis for two nights. Elvis week drives Mary crazy and makes me all shook up.

Do you look down upon yourself?

    NO.

Are ya feelin' pretty good about yourself these days???

    Yes.

    This really made me think.

I am happy with myself and my own company and happy with my social network... i'm quietly confident about my abilities to cope with anything and never contemplate failure as an option...

....having said that; perhaps negative interactions with others affect me too deeply and I would like to be able not to let my selfesteem be lowered by others' behaviour towards me.

I do know that i'm an eternal optimist, though I would like to have a stable, strong, loving, relationship as a basis to strike off from but, hey... if I dont, i'll live.

I myself am pretty content as to who I am. I usually don't need validation from others to feel good about myself, although I'm clearly not an isolationist. I'm pretty cool.

I'm a loner and I doubt that I'll ever be any different. Even if not raised a Witness I'd be a loner. I enjoy my occasional foray to an apostofest or to visit friends I've met, even my trips to visit friends now and then in town, but mostly I am alone all the time and it suits me just fine. I am confident in the things I have done, and the things I can do. I have lots of friends around the world with whom I correspond with on a very frequent basis, and that is very fulfilling. I've learned a few things: you are born alone, and you go alone, and the only person that can ultimately be with you, is you. You can run, but you can't hide, from yourself, so you better be comfortable in your own skin.

I don't do anything I don't want to, and I do everything I want to. If it isn't pleasing to someone else, screw em. I'm a good person at heart, and I try to be kind, compassionate, and generous to others. Beyond that, I am just my own person and I aim to keep it that way. It's way more comfortable, honest and true. what you see is what you get. If you don't like it, find something that you do. I pay my taxes, I do my duty as a citizen, and I live my life as honestly and as capably as I can. I think that's all that should be asked of me. So, having said that, I respect myself.

Life after the witchtower has been greaaat! No regrets, only gratitude that I was able to exit before it scarred me too much. Materially, intellectually, socially, spiritually and religiously, I have been richly blessed. I see myself as truely fortunate.

Interesting question Min. I liked your comment about validation. I must confess that when ever I feel I have things together something or someone comes along and shows me how little I know about myself and how others view me. You are right about not looking for validation from others. Most people would not give it to you even if they knew how. Most people have way too much insecurity to give something they crave to someone else.

As for me...the older I get, the less I know, and I'm not too happy about THAT fact.
