There was one sister in my congregation who had got divorced from one brother and married another. And they all were at the meetings together.
Why do X-Witnesses have a higher divorce rate?

Mr. Grammar here: that is not a word found in the English dictionary!
I can mentally go round our KH and probably get about 50% of couples who have been divorced.
Yes. Before I was df'd, my family and I said the same thing: "Wow, it seems like everybody is getting divorced!"
50% is a lot closer to what we saw, except for those who'd been married for like 30-40 years; they stuck it out, if only for old-times sake...
I don't begrudge them for that: love is greater than religion.

Still stirring it, huh?
The basis of your assumption (the crappy stats) is no way to approach the subject.
Are you hoping for a divorce, when you inevitably leave the borg?
(Alternatively, does your mommy know you post on here?)Craig:IMHO those scriptures, from Paul, apply equally to both genders, and as you rightly point out, nothing like we were led to believe.

Some time ago i asked how many of you have divorced to get the idea if X-JWs posters have a higher or a lower divorce rate than the general population. Of those who responded 86% have been divorced. (6 out of 7)
Oops, sorry. I think I messed up your poll. Since I'm not divorced (married 16 years, half in, half out) I didn't respond.

Well, I've been known to "invent" a few words of my own, eh? LOL
At least, I've been so accused...though I deny all such assertions, and plead to the liberties of literary discretion.

Joker,
Just another observation to add to the list of "variables" that can skew statistics:
It's a biggie:
Think about the "pool" of prospective mates we had to choose from as JW's...I was 24 before getting married. We were constantly pushed and shoved to find the "scripturally strong" types -- as the MOST IMPORTANT THING on our list of things we looked for in a mate. I was a good "pioneer brother" for years, that narrowed down my prospects, lol, cause as we all knew...a lot of the 'hottie' sisters back then (and now) were not interested in somebody too 'scriptural' !
Other skews: How you you factor in 'unscriptural divorces' like mine ?
How about NOT being able to re-marry BECAUSE of that ?
Over all tho'...I think it was a good question that sparked some interest. I don't know you, I hope you were not commenting about leaving the Org, as somehow causing more divorcing...?
Ya' gotta remember this...the lives of JW's are controlled, meaning contrived...therefore, imo, artificial.

I'm not divorced either, married almost 42 years.
I know lots of ex JW's who have gotten divorced because one of them left the JW's, and some because their marriage was crappy while they were JW's anyway.
I agree with Six................sometimes it's just the right thing to do. I don't think anyone has to stay in a bad marriage where one or both are miserable.
