Other than the FL folks on this board, I have two kids, a grandchild and many friends down there. It's scarey being there and worrying about those who ARE there!
Let's hope that Charlie heads out to sea instead of visiting Florida!

Charlie is now a category 4 hurricane.
The hurricane center predicted the center of the storm would make landfall later Friday afternoon near Charlotte Harbor, about 26 miles (41 km) northwest of Fort Myers.
Doesn't Spiceitup and Matty live near there...

I live by Tampa Bay, it is raining right now, 2:48 PM Friday, but the Hurricane will hit south of us. Lots of wind, lots of rain, but no major damage, I hope! Mav

Talk about dodging a bullet! (at least, I hope). It looks as though we aren't going to get the direct hit we were expecting, although they are still forecasting hurricane force winds/rain. BUT right now the eye is directly over Port Charlotte, which is where my sister and nephews are so I'm a wee bit worried.
