absolutely, I agree 100% because after all, they cant wipe their A$$ without an outline and an instruction manual from the society, right? But in this particular case, yes she was a SNOTTY JERK! Always was when we were growing up anyhow.

Elders told my family to not have any association with us as soon as my wife missed 1 weeks meeting!. In my experience it is the 'weak' ones who are the most aggressive shunners. They lack the self confidence of those completely invested and it a rare chance to feel superior. I was told by one person that they may not be an example but AT LEAST they believe.

Well, if you want to be an Approved Association? you have to be at all the Meetings? and go in Field Service? as much as possible. Since I don't do those things, and they cannot see things in anything but black and white: therefore, I am a Bad Association?. JWs are supposed to avoid Bad Associations?.

The fact that I am living a happy and productive life while not being a JW is perplexing to them. So they go out of their way to try to make me unhappy by actively shunning me. It perplexes them even more that their shunning has no effect: I do not come crawling back to them, begging for their (conditional) love and acceptance. So they shun harder and spread lies and rumours, still with no effect on my happy and productive life, still no crawling back to the Love? of the Christian? Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses?.

It becomes a vicious cycle - they keep trying harder to shun you to make you want to come back more. When you don't allow it to "work", they seem to obsess about it more.

Crazy is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.

    Don't they just hate that?

Whenever I see a dub approaching....(.if it's a dub who snubs me) I never give them the chance to snub me and I act happy as a whore in a viagra factory so they can see it. If I'm with other people and they are around....I always try and laugh and act like I'm having a good ol' time.....even if I'm not at the moment, simply for the fact of not giving them the satisfaction of thinking my life went in the shitter.

Dubs expect DFed ones to look all beat-up like they portray them in their publications with dirt on their faces as if they haven't showered after spending months living under a bridge somewhere.

While I was a JW, this is what I found to be true too. I was pretty secure being a JW for many years, and would even nodd and make eye contact with dis'fed ones when they came. Always spoke to the ones whom I hadn't seen in a long time, and was friendly with them. But for some of the JW usually ones I felt were weak, the reacted as Pete said above.

Yes the weak ones are the most aggressive shunners. I found this also when I attended meetings after I was disfellowshipped. It was the weak ones who acted like they were superior, and the more balanced ones were kinder to my husband when he came with me. The weak ones shunned him too.

The weak ones are guilty and so are those who are considered pillars in the congregation......depending on their personality. I've had MANY "exemplary" elders act like assholes to me as much as a newer brainwashed dub.

    Im in that current situation...

You are considered a bad association, so the elders warn everyone that socially getting together with you puts them in danger spiritually. Some of the dubs try to be subtle, but you notice the change in everyone.

How are you saying the elders do this? They do not make an announcment unless it's a "marking" talk on the service meeting. They do not go around telling people individually to stop associating with 'these ones'.......so how is it they convey to the publishers that a certain individual is 'bad association"?

    Gumby,

They do so by observed behavior.

Interesting post and one that goes hand in hand with mine. See my post Jw business model for similar issues.

We are talking after all about how a mans day of beard growth, a womans hem line, a childs not feeling well and making too much noise is judged by the congregants. Where does that come from? Who gave those directives? Are rank and file members to blame?
