    Good one, Doug.

That's one of our arguments with our youngest son and his wife, who seem to think Jesus protects them from all sorts of harm.

I would venture to say that nature (if not God) certainly picks and chooses. Houses on the other side of the street all destroyed, while the ones on this side, nothing. So, is nature benevolent or malevolent? I suppose your answer might depend on which side of the street you live, don't you think?

Check out this pic from Hurricane Charley. The sign is supposed to say, "Shell Factory."

Glad to hear you are all safe and sound, Doug.

Personally I detest the "Prosperity Gospel", in all it's manifestations.

By the way, it also proves that you don't have to worry about being struck by lightening either.

I do. I have said too many bad things about Jehovah and His Organization, so my house was struck by lightning twice.
First time no damage; second time it fried my ISDN modem.
What's gonna happen the third time?

Will you guys do a good word for me?

This reminds me of something I heard an elder say when I was a kid. I remember hearing about a KH that was destroyed by a tornado or hurricane (can't remember which) One of the elders said it might have been Jah's way of dealing with a congregation where there was serious wrongdoing and/or unrepentant people (maybe corrupt elders - yeah like that doesn't happen anywhere these days LOL)

Just an example of how the Borg will justify any situation to keep people from questioning things. What a joke this was now that I think of it! Just more propaganda.

Its interesting to me that they will always say that if they get spared, but when something bad does actually happen to them they will tell you that god is testing them but that he would never give them too much to bear. Or that its god's will and a greater good will come of it somehow. What a god!

Reminds me of a time when some nutter placed a bomb in a Kingom Hall in Australia. It blew up during the meeting causing great damage and serious injury to the speaker and perhaps loss of life, I cannot remember all the details. Anyway, someone lent us an audio tape(you know how these things get passed around) This speaker was trying to justify the "deliverence" of the congregation by saying that it was all in Gods hands and things could have been so much worse, etc etc.. We just puked and said that it was utter rubbish.. Dedicated dubs that we both were at the time. It was evident that this was a horrible crime, just as Hurricane Charley was a horrible storm. Unthinking , just a force of nature. Does not the Bible speak of "Time and unforseen occurance"? Just bad luck, thats all if your house got flattened .. We never did buy into the 'Divine protection' thing, so perhaps all the dubs are not quite so gullible.
