Princess, I promise it will stop! Just don't go loading yourself with 5 big dogs on top of it all, & eventually the kids will get civilized & you will find your stuff. The dogs never do

I feel your pain Princess! My 9 year old still feels the need to mark her territory apparently. That plus a kitten don't make for a "Martha Stewart" kinda setting for me.

Princess.
For so many years, I lived in a Rag Tag little place.
It was embarrassing to have people over because I was so self conscience about all the little things that I could see.
I've been on my own for about 16 years and a majority of the time I lived in places that had old carpet and the such.
Even my current place, which is my dream home, took about a year before I could do anything about it.
It's just now coming to where I'm satisfied with it.
Here is my tip for what it's worth.
I've ALWAYS had one room that I did exactly like I wanted.
My last home, had one room where I could "chill" and like the dogs weren't allowed in and all that.
AT least it's a start. Even if it's the bathroom!!!!
Also, I just got some SOD in my front lawn and also made a little "oasis" with palm tree's and beach sand.
Very bizarre. Ha!!! But fun. -

We lived in a 1974 trailer that we bought for $1,500.00, complete with a porch for like 4 years up here. Confucious, I can relate!

Gypsy.
My first place, I couldn't even affort to paint it and the kitchen "lenolium" floor would PEEL.
UGGG!!! It was awful.
Once I paid a "brother" to paint the upstairs.
He wasn't a professional, but was "starting" his business.
Anyway, he dripped paint all over the carpet.
The place was a MESS!!!

I was vacuuming the other day and discovered dirty foot prints on the wall where my kids climb while pressing their backs against the armoire.
Princess, buy the "Mr Clean eraser" . It will take all those marks off the wall. I've used it and it really works.

Sally, click on the paper clip and then put a check in the little box at the top of the picture you want in the post. Then click "attach selected files". That should do it.
BTW I like the color in your dining room.

I have a perfect bed for me. It is an old fashioned wrought iron, in a teal color. I have a soft side waterbed on it. I have a lot of pillows and coverlets and comofortes and well I love my bed. It is my safe haven.

Confucious, glad to know you are enjoying your space. Since I spend so much of my day at home, I am glad when I see changes for the better. It's a real psychological lift to see some long-awaited plans actually get realized!
My tip: light affects mood. So clean your windows, get bigger windows, and/or add a skylight if you feel like you live in a 'cave'. It will lift your spirits.
This summer has been full of house projects. We excavated and laid a large paver patio, and put a pergola up just the other day. We've been painting and planting. What was once the eyesore of the yard is the place you want to be: a classy, friendly, summery place for coffee and friends. But we're not done yet: I would like to have a wireless speaker system and a graceful fence added by the end of August...
As you can tell, I'm spending a lot of time outdoors this summer... which is why I've not been around on JWD so much!
<--outside, wearing shades!
