Our friend got d'fd for "reviling". I think "bad-mouthing" might be the modern day equivilent of reviling. To help you see this in perspecitve I need to explain that our friend's wife had an adulterous affair with a brother in the congregation, for which she and the brother were d'fd for 12 months and then reinstated to the congregation. The wife used her own adulterous affair as a reason to divorce her husband and take him to the cleaners with the divorce settlement. This enabled the ex wife and brother to get married and buy a fabulous home and have a good income while the first husband was left 'high and dry' and paying for a life-style the brother had only ever dreamed of having. Not only that but the new husband (and brother) played hard ball with visitation rights for the ex husband's (a brother) child. Now I don't know about you, but I would have to say that a bit of reviling in circumstances like that, are almost compulsary and very forgivable in the sight of God!
