If JWs were not told that their everlasting life depending on going door to door (unless disabled then doing telephone/letter witnessing), less than 2% of them would go out.

99% of the people that get baptized are teens of those in the "truth".

    VERY TRUE!!

This also goes to prove that jw's do NOT have that absolute truth they claim to have. If only jw's are going to survive the big A, then don't these "teens" have a massive advantage at attaining "God's" favour? While all those other people who are not raised jw's get slaughtered by that loving god himself.

    What a f****d up religion.

All the years (33) since my diapers. It was the conviction of my heart, that I was out there 'marking' people righteously inclined for everlasting life.

Danny you did do your part in "marking people" but not in the way that you thought. If you, for instance, came across a person who was teetering on the fence about the reality of God, your presance on his doorstep may have pushed him off on to the no God side. Please keep in mind that in the end and I mean the real end... He marked himself. In the end, and I mean the real end...if you are God's child, HE does the marking.

It always has amazed me how much time I was in field service and how little people were at home. Talk about spinning wheels!!!

I always felt the "time" could have been more productive visiting the sick or elderly in the KH or truly helping your neighbor or just being a good samaritan!

It has nothing to do with saving people.

It has alot to do with being accepted in the congregation though.

Knocking on doors when no one is home is a stupid waste of time!

I agree. I used to love it when no one was home -- I would linger at the door longer so that the others out in service would get ahead of me and take more doors. I dreaded when someone would actually answer the door. When someone did answer, I would immediately whip out the WT and hope that would turn them off. LOL How sad is that!

I disagree. No no, wait for it...

    minimus,

Knocking on doors when no one is home is a stupid waste of time!

But it's the most effective way of getting the elders off your back without actually having to confront anybody about the stupid things you believe.

I take that back: a fake time card is more effective.

    cyber-sista,

If JWs spent their preaching time actually doing something constructive for someone in the community what a better witness that would be to everyone.

    And more fun, too!

    soledad,

I have only known one person who became a JW after a door to door visit, and he fell out after 1 year. that's only 1 person in 20 plus years of field service. not so good, statistically speaking.

Well, when I was a jaydub, I was pretty depressed that I had no Bible studies at all after 20 or so years of door-knocking...but I'm glad now! I have nobody's brainwashing on my conscience. Honestly, as an XJW, do you want the dubs to be any more effective than they are?
