as a kid.. going out with my parents..we really talked to people, would help hang up clothes while we talked to women, dad would take his jacket off and work on a car while talking to men etc..

as an adult i honestly didnt go out much because once i went out with pioneers i realized what a waste. you know an eight hour day of time they might get 3 houses if that? drive 30 miles,, take a break.. get one house drive 30 miles in another direction, take a break.. get a house, drive 15 more miles..spot a yard sale, take a break.. drive back.

i could have spent that day at home with my kids, my own housework, my elderly parents etc.

Yes, an enormous waste and scam. I abhorred going out on service, never placed anything (rarely) or had return visits, let alone a bible study. This was one of the parts of being a dub that I despised more than anything.

The main reason I'd say it's a waste is because of the enormous amount of JWs who are just god-awful at it. I mean even most pioneers just suck at talking to people about their faith. Most of them are just concerned with getting in their time and placing the monthly quota of literature. It'd probaly do them a whole lot of good to focus on developing people with the gift of preaching and teaching. They won't do that, because then Brooklyn wuld lose it's prized center stage position.

Agreed on all the arguments plus one more. It's becoming more dangerous.
Not for guys like me, but take for instance the younger kids who get study
like my 13 year old daughter who goes out in field service with a 20 year
old sister from whom she gets study.
That's the way to get perverts into the org. Dangerous business.

I'm going to tell my ex not to allow her to go from house to house, fight or not
or I'll make it known at the child protection service and the local group of
elders. If they don't listen there will be a fight. So be it.
Coincidence that you started a thread on this today...........Thanks.

ps. maybe someone has experience in this? please post

talk about a waiste of time, i leave for work at 5a.m. i see jw's sometimes walking on totally dead streets at that time. just yesterday i saw 2 walking down a commerical district at 6 a.m. and saw them again about an hour later walking the other way. funny thing is none of the shops on that strip open till about 10 a.m. and not a person in sight. only auto traffic. i also find jw's sitting on benches in parks in areas that get next to no walking traffic. did i mention waisting time... john

I agree. I used to love it when no one was home -- I would linger at the door longer so that the others out in service would get ahead of me and take more doors. I dreaded when someone would actually answer the door. When someone did answer, I would immediately whip out the WT and hope that would turn them off.

This was me. I set a good example as an elder hehe. My morning knock was just a little more than a light tap. Worked with one bro who I thought was trying to break the door when he knocked! But come to think of it............I bet most of those people were home..........just like I am home when "they" come and knock on my door. But I know it is them and don't answer.

Ohh geesh........it's Saturday morning...........and I'm running late for...........for..........the flea market.

When you think about it, most people whose door has been knocked on since the last 90+ years are now dead.

Even those doing the knocking since the last 90+ years are dead....
