I can't decide. I'll probably make a phone call tomorrow and try and get a reschedule, maybe find out whether I'm charged with a mortal or a venal sin. I really don't have time for this shit right now.

    Hi Six

I've suggested lying in past posts on the basis that it's already been deemed acceptable by the society, when used as strategic spiritual warfare. (of course that only applies when it benefits the organization) but hey...who's counting? Another option might be to call Brooklyn and talk to whoever answers and tell them you are being treated by a doctor for depression, and these elders are out to get you and your heart is racing, and you don't know if you can even survive this meeting because they haven't been very kind to you and, here are their names, and............

    You get the picture?

Then after the wedding tell them to kiss your crazy ass! :)

BTW loved DocBob's letter. It's beautiful.

I agree with Justus and others that you turn their ``theocratic war strategy" (i.e. lying) hose on them for a change. Of course, if you were seen doing something naughty (i.e. taking swimming lessons at the YMCA, puffing on a cigarette or attending the local karate academy, etc.), then your only option is to stall in a bid to buy some time beyond the wedding.

I had sent a certified letter to my previous P.O. and body of elders, based upon information from DocBob....his information was wonderful! I realize that each situation is different, but in my situation, using some of his language, quotes from the 'Elders' Manual', and the threat of legal action if any negative announcement is made about myself to either the congregation or members of the congregation seemed to have settled down the elders....and that has been about 6 years ago and they have left me alone. (however, my father was also ill and used to be high and mighty in the Circuit, so I thought that they might have left me alone out of respect for him and so that I, as his only child, could assist him in his illness....however, since his passing last year, I keep one eye looking over my shoulder waiting for them to come back....)

I wouldn't DA, as that just acknowledges their 'rules'. If they don't want me, then that's their decision, not mine.

It is just a shame that they feel that they have to "do something" at all. My dad had a Bible Study once (who was a bit slow to begin with) whose wife was very opposed. Finally, after several years of studying and attending meetings....and maybe being baptized, I'm not sure.....he decided to no longer attend. He wouldn't say why and he just wanted to be left alone. My dad kept ranting about how he needed to write a letter to DA himself..yadda yadda yadda. I finally told him that it was none of his business why that man wanted to stop attending and that it was rude for him to keep calling him and trying to get him to put anything in writing. My dad was mad at me, but I made it clear that I thought it was stupid to chase the poor, henpecked man down.

You can say that too.......nothing against them.....you just don't want to go!

IF YOU DECIDE TO GO THE "I WILL SUE YOU FOR SLANDER ETC." ROUTE. DO NOT USE IT AS A THREAT.

GO TO A LAWYER, EXPLAIN THE SITUATION AND PAY "HIM" TO SEND THEM EACH PERSONALLY A LETTER.

IN WHICH "HE" DELIVERS THE THREAT, THAT YOU WILL SUE EACH OF THEM AS INDIVIDUALS.

THIS AT LEAST WILL SLOW THINGS DOWN, AS THEY WILL RUN TO THE SOCIETIES LEGAL DESK FOR INSTRUCTIONS AND THIS TAKES TIME.

THIS HAS WORKED FOR PEOPLE. I WISH I HAD THIS KNOWLEDGE WHEN I WAS DF'D FOR FITS OF ANGER.

Yep, go all Lawyer-style on their asses. Personal letters. Don't address the threat of legal action to the Society, or the Congregations.

And after that, tell them they can kiss your ass!
