    4JWY...

Really? Wow! They used your real initials?

I like the idea of the contest that seattleniceguy suggested. Hmm...What would be the prize?

Yeah, and I thought it was one of those privileges we always heard about.

You know, that makes me think of a new game. Okay, everyone ready? First guy to get something published in the WT wins! On your marks, get set, go!

    Dear Brothers,

I was reading about a contest on an apostate website to get something published in the Watchtower. In an attempt to gain an unfair advantage in this contest I started reading back issues of the Watchtower. It was in reading your loving replies that I realized what a grave sin I had committed by leaving Jehovah's loving organization and got in touch with my old congregation. I have since become a regular publisher and my goal is to pioneer. Already I am conducting 6 bible studies with interested ones from the territory. Your printing responses from readers has saved my eternal life!

    Your loving sister

    ...

Well guys do you think I'm a shoe in.

    LMAO @ Myst...

The thing I always found amusing about the "From our Readers" segment, who writes such short letters? Seriously, even Dear Abby letters are longer, and she often refers to additional information not disclosed in the printed version. (I know, they are editing) My point is, they must get thousands of letters every week, I wonder how much splicing and dicing they do to get the letters they have. Here's one in 8/8/04:

I understand the feelings of the young ones quoted in the article. ("Young People Ask... How Can I Come Out From Under My Parents' Shadow" Oct 22, 2003) In the past I was overly conscious that the congregation expected a lot from me because of my well-known father and uncle. My family name was like a product brand name that followed me wherever I went. When I was unable to fulfill expectations, I felt like a failure. But now I am learning that the most important thing is how Jehovah views us. S.S., Japan

Sad, but true. Ironically, I can actually identify with that one, but come on... One YPA article? Oh yeah, he never said he didn't still feel like a failure or overly conscious. Good splicing AFake!

    Here's another:

I want to express my appreciation for the section called "Watching the World." It's the first thing I read in the magazine, and I can't wait to see the illustrations. The drawings encourage me to read about subjects to which I would not normally be drawn--for example, the item "Noisy Fish," in the October 22, 2003, issue. How funny! N.N., United States

Hahaha! Okay, all kidding aside, has anyone ever noticed that the writing in all of those letters not only sounds just the same (again with the editing.) They are all grammatically the same, same buzzwords, same syntax. Same same same. I'm not saying the letters are faked, it's just I know just how much "reworking" the Society does with Ass-embly parts, demonstrations, and even experiences. Why not these too?

When I read letters from readers in other magazines, there is actually room to say something, and they are often printed as written, or sometimes with spelling correction. And I cannot believe there are so few challenging letters. How disingenuous to only print the "we appreciated" and "how wonderful, thank you." Secular circulars (and even some other religious ones) will print critical letters, it's normal.

Which brings me to... Questions from Readers. OMG. Terry's comment notwithstanding about his wife's letter... I mean, what are the odds. I'll bet they've received several thousand letters about oral sex. Why print that one? Because they had an agenda... not because the brothers were asking. I wonder how many letters they have received over the years about the UN... think we'll ever see that in QFR? I'll bet there have been even more letters about the "two witness" rule re: child abuse... Probably won't see that one coming up in QFR either.

This is a publishing corp with an agenda... Way to state the obvious, O. But there is nothing of real education, no room for real discussion. And misleading??? The same magazine I'm referring to above has an article "The Bible's Viewpoint...Does God Really Care About Children?" Which from a de-brainwashed xJW begs the question "yes, but what about all the kids he's gonna kill at Armaggedon... does he care about THOSE children?" But that's a question I'll bet you never see in "From our Readers."

From the recent "Questions from the Readers", WT, 01/it'll never happen/04

    Dear Brothers:

While 'visiting' the PO's wife while he was at work last night, I was looking through a bookbag that I 'found' at the KH and noticed the article entitled "Using your Resources Wisely". I realized that with Christmas coming, college tuition due, my vacation to Hedonism, and my legal fees from defending myself for 'visiting' with sister '12 year old', that I may have some difficulty in aiding the preaching work financially. How does the loving father Jehovah God view our service even if we are of small financial means?

    Sincerely,

Your Brother, Hugh Jass, Podunk, Mississippi

    Editors note:

    Brother Jass,

Jehovah's appreciates all of our ser....wait...you said you couldn't give us any money?? F*** YOU, buddy.
