I have recently obtained a copy of Studies in the Scriptures, Series VI, "The New Creation". The copy I have is is very good condition.

Opening it up, I see it is the 31,000 edition, 1905, and the publisher is listed as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Allegheny , PA.

BUT, Charles Taze Russell name is absent on the title page!

going through the book I find nowhere Russell's name mentioned, let alone as being the author of the book.

It is as if the book is anonymously written!

Does anyone know of an explaination for the existence of such a volume? and the removal of Russell's name?

I guess the Watchtower Society in 1905 was a little ahead of its time!

Our hall has all the volumes, I'll check it out. However I do know that Vol 7 (The Finished Mystery) is noted as a "Posthumous Work of Pastor Russell, His Last Legacy to the Dear Isreal of God." (copyright 1917)

    VM44,

The story that I heard on the QT is that Russell did not write his own books anyway. His wife did the writing for him. All he did was provide some input for them.

    Hi GermanXJW,

No, there is a two page preface, ending with "A single friend or relative helped - rescued from doubt or unbelief - would repay the cost ofthese studies a thousand times.", followed on the next page by the contents, no name of Charles Russell!

This edition is the "Helping Hand for Bible Students" it does NOT have the winged sun symbol, but rather has an "ancient oil lamp sitting on a book" drawing on the spine. The cover is red (maroon?) with white lettering.

The last page of the book is an advertisement for the"Old Theology Quartly, for the promotion of Christian Knowledge"

    Hi Joseph,

Even if Russell had help writing his books, his name still appeared as author.

I am wondering when and why this edition was published with Russell's name removed.

This is a Mystery, and, until the question is answered, it isn't Finished!

Nice to see you again, Joseph!

: The story that I heard on the QT is that Russell did not write his own books anyway. His wife did the writing for him. All he did was provide some input for them.

Maria testified in Court that she wrote at least HALF of the content of each of Russell's books.

Actually Russell's name never appears in any of his books as author. Although his name appears in the PREFACE. Why not scan the page and post it here so we can see.

At his request, he requested that after his death that his name appear nowhere attached to his writings were they to be reprinted. Something none of the groups formed after his death honored.
