Someone stole my notebook computer!!! :S

Today at work I went to get a notebook computer that I had stored in a filing drawer and it was gone! Fortunately it was not my primary work computer and I had not used it for several months... so no work lost.

Just this Monday another guy in our office noticed that his personal optical mouse that he brought up to work was missing, but didn't make much of a fuss of it.

Damnit, this is frustrating. I trust the people I work with... we have a great group... so there is no one I can logically conclude to be a suspect, and I hate to automatically blame the night cleaning crew.

On a side note... my supervisor has been out of town for a meeting having to do with the new budgets and corporate plans and other such things. Basically that was the meeting where he was going to find out if the new budget would allow for me to be hired as a perm employee (for those who don't know, I am currently a contractor and I've been trying to get a perm job for a long time). When I called my supervisor to tell him about the theft, he let me know who all I needed to contact and what all to do... and wrapped up the phone call telling me that he will likely have some "good news" for me when he gets back!

    Elsewhere,

Crossing my fingers for you on the permanent position.

My house got broken into on Friday night and my purse, my friend's purse and her laptop was taken--we were gone for 15 MINUTES--we went for a walk. I felt so.....violated, I guess. Have had very mixed emotions about the whole thing--one minute I want to rage and break things and the next I want to crawl into bed and pull the covers up to my chin. Guess maybe I expect too much of people to just have a little respect for others' property. Sorry to hear about your laptop

Sorry Elsewhere , but the world is filled with dishonest people even ones you work with. Last year my husband had is wallet stolen at work and could not believe people that he knew would do such a thing but they did and they do.

Yes, I know how you feel about having someone enter your home! When I was a teen someone broke into our house and stole a bunch of stuff.

It's an odd feeling knowing that a stranger was walking around in your home digging through your stuff... it actually took awhile for it to feel like "home" again... for awhile it had the same feeling as being in a hotel or someone else's house.

    Yeah, exactly!!!

It was sort of surreal. Made me kind of look at everything in my home from a new perspective. My husband will be taking video of everything we own because we have a lot of stuff that we have no "proof" that we own (gifts, inherited stuff, etc.) Well, I hope the police catch the person who broke into my house and I hope you can find your laptop or replace it soon.

Sorry about your computer! Yes, I too have learned the hard way about leaving anything of value, even at work. People just can't seem to keep their grubby little hands off other people's things! I hope they find out who did it...

Hope you get hired perm. on your job, it is good that your boss sounded optimistic! Good luck!

There is one an hour stolen from the company I work for. It's quite a big company. We are obligated to chain them down literally.
