At the client's site where I contract someone came in with bolt cutters and removed chained down laptops. One girl said she had a can of pop stolen, so admin requested that everyone send any cans of pop that might be found in the wastebaskets. One guy sent in a garbage bag full and said, "they're probably looking for prints, so this will keep them busy for a while." They surmised who it was and chastised him via email. They now lock all laptops in cabinets or people take their machines home. 2 years ago three ladies had purses stolen at another client site. Only good theft, the weekend they stole the stereo equipment from the KingDump Hall, that meeting was very abbreviated. Good luck on the perm position.

    Hi else

That's lousy - hope you get it back soon. At my workplace someone unbolted a ceiling mounted large data projector and managed to sneak it out of the building!

Good luck with the job - I have been on temporary contracts for a few years and have only recently had my job made permanent. It was a nightmare - couldn't make any real future plans as I was never sure how long I would be in a job. No job is 100% permanent that's for sure but it's made a great difference to my mental health.

That is EXACTLY why I want a perm job! I am sooo tired of not being able to make long-term plans. I also can't every take vacations because I'm always using my savings to support myself while between contracts.

I'm a "saver". Given the choice of buying something or watching my account balances go up over time... I choose watching my savings go up. When a contract ends it erks me to have to wipe out those savings I worked so hard for.
