Thej only thing that comes up for me is what W.C. Fields has on his tombstone:

"I'd Rather be in Philadelphia."

"Immortal" last words are meaningless. Three days later everyone forgets about us when we die. Even if they didn't, famous last words provide no solace for the dead. They are dead and don't know any better.

That's why I laugh and scoff at people like the unbelievably arrogant J. Paul Getty who devoted his entire multi-billion dollar fortune to building a monument to himself, i.e. the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. He's DEAD. He doesn't get to hear words of praise for his self-glorifying monument. He could have helped millions of people with that money, but he used it to glorify himself. Now worms are eating at his flesh and he is in no position to get his own selfishness. His own kids hate his guts. Only the worms like him now.

Hey, how do you know he doesn't get to hear them? But if he can hear that then he can hear his kids say how pi$$ed they are that Daddy built a monument to himself instead of leaving all of that money to them.
