- With the number declining and lack of monetary support, that "The Watchtower" magazine will become a monthly journal, to save on cost. perhaps add a few more pages to cover the study articles for the month.

What do you predict?
RR
i predict that when i hit enter, my post will appear below yours.
You see ... post like yours is why no one can create a decent thread!
I predict that I will see at least five Full House reruns in the next 24 hours.
Oh, and that the JW's will yet again change their stance on Blood Transfusions. (obvious)
RR:
Actually I think it would be a good idea! I never could understand why there wasn't one monthly magazine of good 'quality' i.e. colour, glossy and with better layout, in place of both the Watchtower and awake!
Anyway, to your question:
3. ( or whatever). I predict the WTS will bring out another adjustment in teaching within five years!
(That wasn't too risky, was it?!!)
Cheers, Ozzie
RR, I'd never thought of that...interesting possibility.
Wasn't it like the first 5 years when the Watch Tower was only published monthly? And then, in more modern times, when the WTS shifted away from hard-cover books; I also recall that many years ago they went to a lower-quality paper for the mags.
So, here's another prediction:
In 10 years, JWs will allow quasi-official support groups within the org (though not "officially" endorsed).
Craig
Craig, yep, Zion's Watch Tower as it was called was a monthly paper for the first few years. However it was big newspaper size journal. They reduced the size and it eventually was published every 1st and 15th of the month. Consider then, there were no pictures, except for the cover which was always the same. As the years went by (as you noted) the magazine got smaller and the paper is cheaper.\
Ozzie, I would agree, a larger format (8.5 x 11) with glossy paper and better photos would do the journal good. And it would detract from the rank and file wondering if the Society is losing money. The Society could simply say, we're simplifying. Dubs will believe anything.
As to the Awake!? That's just a waste of paper, I don't even know why they publish that garbage!

Well, yes and no. The Awake (Golden Age, Consolation) never had any official stature that compared to the Watchtower and books: I recall one 30s inquiry wherein a reader asked for confirmation that something printed in the Golden Age was "approved" by the WTS...it was, with some reservation. And in 40 years I don't recall that anyone ever quoted something from the Awake mag as if it was "real truth."
Clayton Woodworth had earned his stripes with Rutherford, and his reward was to be the editor of his own journal, bizarre as many of his ideas were (as with his own special calendar; published and quickly rescinded).
But, the Awake might, in some ways, be compared to "fluff" threads on this db (no disrespect intended). What the Awake offers is just the kind of pablum that many, if not most, people prefer. I remember that it was a lot easier to offer the Awake at the doors than the Watchtower.
So, another prediction: The Awake (perhaps renamed) will be around for at least another 20 years.
This is sorta fun. LOL
I predict that "new releases" will be reduced to tracts and booklets....no more hard-back full-sized prophectic tomes!

come on man, don't judge everyone elses thread creating capability by your own! it was a joke, and i know you take great pride in having a liberal sense of humour, i thought you would be amused. WT predictions. The legal side will become even more distanced from the religion side, and will eventually become wholely owned by a bunch of shareholders, they will also diversify and begin producing books & magazines for sale that are under a different wing to JW publications. once again, i predict that when i hit enter, this will appear below the above post!
