    RR,

I would tend to agree with your prophecy, but only under certain conditions:

    Is it Bible-Based(tm)?

Are you just an "imperfect man" who speaks for God, but don't always get things right?

Seriously, I wonder if dubbies can go more than two weeks without having the WT mag. to shuffle through to try to spot this or that major change or new light. Of course, with the passing of Freddie in 1992, one WT reads about the same as any other WT, so you may be on to something.

Also, I understand that the WTS has determined that they can use outside companies to print all their literature at virtually no increase in cost compared with the way they are doing it now. If they did that, they could close down the factories and sell them, adding hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars to their "Theocratic War" Chest.

    Craig,

: So, another prediction: The Awake (perhaps renamed) will be around for at least another 20 years.

I always considered the Awake! magazine to be a "hook" used to sell both it and the Watchtower. When I was pioneering, the WT magazine was full of Fred Franz rantings and, like today, every other paragraph is spent giving glory and praise to the WTS society. That kind of crap is really hard to sell at the door, so I usually emphasized the Awake! as a "news and nature journal" and talked about some of the nifty articles it contained like:

    "Does the Jackalope Really Exist?"
    "Are Practical Jokes Really Practical?"
"How to Make a Kite out of 1/4" Cast Iron"
"The Garbage Disposal: a Modern Miracle"
"The Camel - A Creature of Beauty"
"Rivers of the World: A Source of Water"
    "Is Cannibalism Wrong?"
    "Jellyfish - Floating Wonders"
    "Does Science Really Help Mankind?"

Just Before the Annual NGO Renewal Was Due: "The UN Helps Reduce Human Suffering"
Just After the Annual NGO Renewal Was Made: "The UN - a Real Piece of Shit"

    Stuff like that.

The Watchtower" magazine will become a monthly journal, to save on cost. perhaps add a few more pages to cover the study articles for the month.

I predict that if that happens the average dub will only "donate" half as much for the mag rag and at the doors the same thing will happen.

Profits will drop.....Therefore with confidence I predict it's not going to happen soon.

I understand why they publish the Watchtower magazine, but I don't understand why they play doctor or scientist with their articles in the Awake magaizine.

Re the hard cover vs paper back books: The Walkill NY mega-presses are now online as well as in other branches around the world. The word is that the paper back times are over and the hard cover books will become the norm again.

The idea of just one magazine per month is interesting to me. Don't forget that a semi-monthly mag allows lots of Return Visits and circulation! However a substantial magazine would be a better way to solicit donations.

Are you associated with the Herald Magazine? Just wondering, but if its personal then please don't answer.

My prediction is: one or more of the Watchtower corporations will break off from mother.

a larger format (8.5 x 11) with glossy paper and better photos would do the journal good.

Wouldn't glossy paper be hard to underline on? It would make for a lot of smeared answers.
