Another outlook on the subject: Genesis 1 is a mythical story, in which a day is not a thousand- or million-years period in reality, but just... a day in a story. And there was evening and there was morning: what would that mean in geological ages? And what would geological ages mean to the writer? Nothing.
So let's beware of concordism, leave the texts to literary analysis and the earth to geological investigations. Amen!
